First Peter does not want to fire dave second you would have to be crazy to have stoitchkov go nuts on your players all the time.Third 2 million? An MLS coach making 2 million, you know it is a phoney story.

That would be news to us. It wouldn't surprise me greatly, however. The part that jumped out at me was the supposed paycheck that was offered.

Everyone knows that MLS will not succeed until it has foreign coaches.

    We should also sign Gazza.

Its a BS story. The central European papers like to spew BS like this to make fake news. They do this in Croatia all the time. An Example, my Uncle owns the Pepsi bottling company in Croatia and they were having some financial problems. It just so happened that same summer my family and I went and visited him and we sat down an chatted about purchasing the hotel and SPA complex in this popular resort town in Makarska Croatia.

Well two days later it was in the paper that an American investor family (My pops and I) had come from the US to save my uncles' pepsi bottling company and to purchase two hotels. He he he. :D Needless to say the rest of that summer I had a harder time hitting the side of a barn with a soccer ball than getting laid. Aaaaaaaahhhh the memories

Anyway the point is that they make up crap like this all the time to make the local guy look good or bad. This is a good lesson for all of us when we see ridicules stories about transfers and rumors etc.

    Ciao

FYI, I have it on good authority that he doesnt go nuts on his players all the time and that in fact he is a pretty damm good coach. He even displayed such when Croatia went up 2-0 at home against Bulgaria in the qualifiers and he had them come back and tie in superb style. He was positive and very encouraging on the sidelines. Nothing but class.

This whole thing with him constantly being nothing but a tyrannical a-hole is getting old. The guy was very difficult but he was a superstar and had an ego. Nothing different than Jordan, Sosa, John MaCenroe, or Beckham Ronadlo or Romario.

He was a badass and acted like one and before he got injured played like one.

Our national team could use a nice 20-22 year badass like that with the same talent. We could actually win this thing in 2010.

I actually wouldn't mind Hristo as a coach. That said, I think he burnt some bridges when he left before and I doubt he'll be very involved with the Fire for awhile at least.

Just as long as he doesn't try to play...

That said, the premise of this story is pretty bupkus.

    Re: Stoitchkov as coach

Actually, this would be highly entertaining to me. At the same time, I think the team would reach the realm of "fun-bad" were Stoitchkov the head man here.

I'm all for getting Stoitchkov involved with the Fire again, in any capacity.

Unfortunately our overly PC soycheese crowd in the States cant handle a little BS from a player. Oh wait lets throw loaves of bread to show we have more class than he does!!! BRILLIANT! :D Then talk crap about what an A-hole he was. Ahhhh the double standards we allow ourselves are classic. I can be a jerk and be ************ but you cant,, ahhhhh true Democracy ;)

i still don't fully understand that whole thing. a guy gets traded, acts like a professional about it, and when asked a question about what it feels like to come back to Chicago, a city that he lived in for only a couple years, he doesn't say that its the hardest thing to do in his entire life, and some of us take that as a stab in the back?

somebody earlier in this thread said hristo burned some bridges when he left, but i think nothing was burned until some of section 8 did that bread thing.

Hristo, as a player, caused a lot of trouble for this club the last year he was here. Whether he handled his departure professionally is another matter and up for debate, but I think a lot of people are letting 1990s Hristo cloud their opinion of 2000s Hristo.

Plus, the dude literally ASKED for the breading.

I still wish he had retired after one or two years here. We might have much better memories and feelings toward the guy as a group and as a club.

In other news, I was just offered the Fire coaching job for $5 million, but politely declined.

See, anyone can play this game.

I will always love Hristo for shoving Bobby Convey on the field during the playoff game.

I am not sure which player was MORE disliked in the locker room, but at least Hristo had the resume to back up his ego. :D

"1990s Hristo cloud their opinion of 2000s Hristo"

NO!! If your gonna judge the guy you judge him on his whole career. You cant just take it piece meal dude. Why would you do that?? because it fits your argument. Thats like judging PELE only when he was with the Cosmos!! Its the most ridicules way to look at it. He was brought here based on his international record, so now that you want to slam him, the fact that he was the best player to ever put on the red and his previous record is irrelevant.

NEVER MIND THAT HE CARRIED US in 2000!!!!

DUDE ITS THE SAME HRISTO!!!! LIKE THE FCUKIN Jordan was different than the Jordan in a Wizards uniform or Bulls unifrom.

Riiight ok Liam!!! Look some of you guys need to realize these guys aint your bitter ex girlfreinds. YOu guys act like a bunch of bitter bitches, its soccer and thats it.

Hristo will always be a God in my eyes and those that truly know soccer. The best player to ever put on a Fire uniform! He didnt have it entirely when he came here, but I am saying he was the best based on his record as a pro before he come to us and thats the way all player are judged THEIR WHOLE CAREER!

He beats anyone ANYONE hands down. His record shows it, and not Nowak nor Kubik or anyone else for that matter has ever nor ever will have the international acclaim and record and success on the domestic or international world stage.

Nowak was a better player while he was with the Fire but Hristo was a better player in his prime, end of story!!!

Just like I wouldnt ever diss Michael Jordan no matter what he did, nor Walter Payton nor Pele nor Maradona. I will never diss a player for his off field antics. Its irrelevant to me personally.

I bet 90% of you lickasses wouldnt have the guts to tell him that to is face, you suck his nuts like a bunch of starried eyes girsl at an N'Sync concert.

The problem with alot of it, is that our management and suck ass Americna players couldnt handle a European superstar.

Like if we brought Beckham or Ronadlo or Romario there wouldnt be problems.

We all want to be like the EPL but the second a player gets a little testy we all curl up into our little American shells like a bunch of bitches!!

My opinion of someone is based on there actions from beginning to end. Its the only way to judge someone fairly.

Your judging him only based on his time with the Fire because its fits your little F---in cry baby HRISTO HURT MY feeelings Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Did you ever think that maybe just maybe alot of the players on the Fire were jealous because they will never EVER EVER! be as good of a player as he was in their career and he let them know it!!!

IT ALWAYS TAKES TWO TO TANGO!!!! ALWAYS. It never goes just one way.

    Razov...24 games, 18 goals, 6 assists
    Dema...31 games, 10 goals, 5 assists
    Peter...28 games, 5 goals, 14 assists
    Wolff...25 games, 7 goals, 5 assists
    Stoichkov...18 games, 9 goals, 7 assists
    Gutierrez...24 games, 2 goals, 13 assists

The guy was good for us, but I'm not going so far as to say he carried us that year. He played in just over half the league games and his numbers are comparable to several players on the team.
