I Am Still The Same Football Club

Hello, remember me? Some people call me The Irons,
    others call me The Hammers;
My proper title is West Ham United Football Club.
    But whatever they call me,
I am your Club, or as I proudly state
....the Greatest Football Club in the world.

There is something that has been bothering me,
so I thought I might talk it over with you....
because it's about you and me.
I remember some time ago, It was back in May 1980,
people were lined up on both sides of the street to watch the parade.
The local band was behind me,
and naturally, I was leading the parade.

When your Father saw me holding the Trophy aloft,
he removed his Claret & Blue hat and placed it against his left shoulder
so that his right hand was directly over his heart. Remember?
And you, Yes, I remember you.
Standing there straight as a soldier decked out in Claret & Blue.
You didn't have a hat, but you were cheering and waving a flag.
Remember little sister? Not to be outdone,
she was waving and cheering the same as you.

Oh, I was very proud as I came down that street.
There were some soldiers home on leave
and they were standing at attention giving their military salute.
Also, war veterans with their caps at jaunty angles were
    cheering and clapping.
Ladies as well as men, paid me the reverence I deserve.
Now, I may sound a little conceited.
Well, I am. I have a right to be,
because I am the Greatest Football Club in the world...
    West Ham United Football Club.

Other Football Clubs have tried to haul me down,
but they all felt the fury of this Unique Club and its fans.
Remember...many of you had to go overseas to support me.
What has happened? I'm still the same old Club.
Oh, I've had more ups and downs since you were a boy.
A lot more tears have been shed since that fine day in 1980.

Harry is gone now, The home ground has a new look.
The last time I came down the street holding a trophy aloft,
I saw that some of the old faces were gone,
but in their place, shinning majestically in the sun,
were a number of new faces, both young and old, male and female.
Yes sir, the old Boleyn ground has changed.

But now....I still feel as proud as I used to
Some people don't seem to know who I am now.
I saw an old man take his hat off, and then look around.
He didn't see anybody else with theirs off,
so he quickly put his back on.
Is it a sin to support West Ham now?
Have you forgotten what we stand for?

Well, it won't be long until I come down your street again.
So when you see me, stand straight,
place your hand over your heart,
and you'll see me waving back.
My salute to you, I'll show you that I too, remember!
Long live this great game, Long live West Ham.
United we stand, Divided we fall.

I have to admit I'mglad Man U beat the Arse for the Title. Man U beat us fair and square, I feel we gave away points at home against Arse, and then Bergkamp and Pires cheated WHU away.

    Congrats on yet another title.

I have to admit that I actually like Man U more than any team other than Bayern Munich (who I loathe their very existence).

Relegation is bad mojo. You never know who'll be off and losing Cole, Defoe, Johnson and Carrick would be tragic. If we lose the old guys, oh well.

DiCanio is as good as gone..Lazio want him and that's his true love club.

Hutch: Rangers reportedly want him - won't get more than £2 Mill, but we can dream.

Kanoute: Arse or Liverpool, as long as we get £5 Mil he can go

James: Has to play in the EPL to get the england job.

Sinclair: Same boat, but offers may not materialize after his poor season (he turned it around when we got Brevett)

If we can keep the kids, plus Repka, Lomas, Big Les, Rufus, and Ian Pearce - we could bounce right back up. We will need a young forward...Bobby Zamora might be right. Maybe Matt Jansen would come to us.

In any case we need some help and a win against B'ham and a win by Boro v Bolton and we are still in the EPL!!!
