It just seems like Suarez isn't the rock inside that Bonseau is, and Bonseau doesn't have the x-factor or whatever that Ryan has on the offensive end. Overall the whole defense seems really shaky. I can't wait to see more of Countess though. Hopefully we'll see the new line work as intended this Saturday.
These things take time. Give it a chance, it is a long season. I still think there is more potential this way.
I believe Ryan is better served in the middle also. His lack of first step should keep him at home (should) in order to be most effective with his skill set. T-Bone has a good two-way game. He may not get caught up-field as much as Ryan did on the outside, but that only helps a more solid back line. I support a committed 4 man back (unless the d-mid has an accurate cannon shot and never pushes up) and want a versatile midfield. With all the flux we've had at midfield, versatility is a must.
Im kind of enjoying Bonseus' offensive game, but Suarez is clearly having trouble adjusting to the new positon. The best solution IMO would be Suarez and Bonseu in the center.
How many more times will Suarez botch a header back to the goal keeper? Also, in the New England game, I know for a fact (I was right on line with the players) that JMM was offside even though some agrued that TBone kept him on, but in the K.C. game, it looked to me like Bonseu did in fact kept Klien onside. And what is up with Morrow? From my view, he was directly responsible for the first two goals that KC scored.
I'd switch them back today. T-Bone was better in the middle and Suarez is better on the outside. Is there potential? Maybe but we're still looking for our first win of the season and things do not look like they are improving. I wasn't a fan of this when I first heard it and I am less of a fan of it now.
There is a possible 'dynamic' problem. When T-Bone was in the middle with Morrow, Steve was much more vocal; and in my experience, the more vocal a veteran is, the more 'involved' and effective he becomes. But the plain fact-o-the-matter is; is that Suarez is a leader. I think two leaders in the middle of the defensive line, where communication is sooo critical - is counter-productive. Unless Morrow makes a 'Jeff Agoos' like commitment to staying-at-home and NEVER pushing up off the back-line in order to challenge/break-up a play; it will be more-of-the-same. I do believe, however, that if Broome stops pushing up so much and commits to supporting in front of Morrow, we'd have a stronger back-line. Then, we'd only push and overlap on T-Bone's side. Actually, the better case-scenario would be to switch Morrow and Suarez. That would release Broome to push/overlap and keep T-Bone at home to support in front of Morrow. I like that MUCH better.
Suarez seems to have a brain fart every once in a while, not a good thing in the middle. Put T-Bone in the middle. In the first half, Broome was staying home. Davis was marking space instead of person (Klien). How many of our goals-against were long balls (by passing the mids) up the middle? Center Defense is the problem.
It appears "the switch" has officially been turned off: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dallas/sports/soccer/stories/052203dnspoburnlede.1926b.html
"Jeffries moved Suarez and Bonseu back to their original positions before a 1-1 draw with Los Angeles last week. " Did ya get the memo? The TPS report needs a cover page. I haven't read it anywhere, but Saurez played the entire game on the flanks while T-bone was back in the middle you're even on that thread.
I think it was a good idea that just didn't work. I don't give Jeffries many props, but I will give him this. He went back to what worked last year beofre the team took another loss.
great googlie mooglie! you linked an article saying the switch was off. I linked my quote from a page that you're on saying the switch was off. so I was showing the redundancy of the article, since the matter had already been covered on that page that since you'd posted on, should've been aware of. I hear wallyworld is selling clues for $2.50 a dozen. Don't pass it up.
Yes, but the difference is that the new article has a quote from Jeffries indicating that it's unlikely they'll try "the switch" again: "We didn't seem to be progressing week in and week out. It will be looked back at as fixing something that wasn't necessarily broken." The thread you're referring to merely states the fact that Bonseu and Suarez "unswitched" for the Galaxy game, and provided no reason to believe that Jeffries might not decide to switch them again.
Now I want both T-Bone and Suarez in the middle. I'd rather have Morrow on the right and stay home... no overlaps. I want to stay committed to three back at all times. The best way to turn-around a slump is by committing to defense first. Consistent development of recent offensive success should take care of itself, as long as there aren't too many variables thrown into the mix.
WHAT? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! what more evidence is needed and how many times more can Ryan say, "i hate playing in the middle, boss" b4 MJ recognizes he took a rock solid backline and turned it into a shaky avg one? Oye Vek! what's Dave Dir doing these days? on a lighter note, I've really been impressed w/ DJ Countess'(sounds like a bad rapper-think I'll renickname him MC Save-a-Lot) shot blocking and overall steadiness b/w the pipes. On the other thread I mentioned that after Deering headed a ball over the touch line and DJ jacked him one in the jaw since he'd called, "off ball!" That takes real guts and is a sure sign of a leader if he can discipline a 30something vet of the bundesliga w/ more national caps than him. You heard it here 1st, this guy's going places & quickly too.
