This is just making me sick. Even after our performance in the World Cup last summer, there are still a whole bunch that still think we can't play. I was watching the US and Venezuela replay in this recreation room. Three passer-bys asked me who was playing. Once I told them, their immediate response is that Venezuela must be winning because they're South American and that we're not known for soccer. When will this torture end?
If these passerby's were Americans, then what did you expect? To most Americans soccer is far behind football, baseball, and basketball and they probably paid little to no attention to the U.S.'s World Cup performance. Don't let it get to you too much, times will, hopefully, change.
That also reflects a lack of knowledge of South America as Venezuela is pretty lousy at soccer for the most part.
Um...never? Are you expecting every person in the world to have even a basic knowledge of soccer? Just because three people assume another team is winning or simply better because the team is from South America isn't the end of the world. It's a simple fact of life. Take a breath, relax and enjoy watching the replay.
We're an elite group. We like soccer even though it's not big in America. No point caring what everyone else thinks.
If I am not mistaken I don't think Venezuela has ever made it to a world cup tournament in their entire history. Also I was readin something about how they had finally managed to make it out of the last spot in their group for qualifying for the last world cup. So I guess they were second to last this time around. I guess Brazil should be shaking in their shorts. I hate ignorant ass people. If you don't know what you are talking about don't say anything. Assuming stuff only makes an ass out of the person who is doing it.
I don't want respect... I want dismay after they overlook us and we beat them badly... BTW, does the Venezuela coach still have his job today?
By "WE" do you mean U.S soccer fans or Americans that like Soccer in general ? Saying that Soccer is not big in America is a lie especially with all the games that are shown on TV and all the internatioonal friendlys that are played here.

I mean, half of America thinks Iraq had something to do with 9/11. So the fact that three random people thought our team would be losing against Venezuela isn't shocking. What might surprise the same folk is that Venezuela is much better at baseball than soccer. And Argentina and Brazil are pretty darn good at basketball. It's a brave new world.
Venezuela has actually improved considerably. They are no longer the doormats of South America. This honor is now shared by Bolivia and Peru.

From what I can tell most of you don't know enough to opine who is a doormat in CONMEBOL. This just in: there are no more doormats. Chile went in four year from getting to the second round of the World Cup to last place in CONMEBOL qualifiers.
