Whatever he's asking HSG aint payin'. So this is more of a pipe dream discussion.
I would burn a DP on him and shell out $3mill a year for him. There are many futbol fans in the Dallas area that would frequent PHP and pay you back that money. Sponsors would have to kick in another $3-$4 million to be realistic. He's 23 and has a very bright future. Ruiz would be redundant that's for sure.

We have about as good a chance of landing that deal as Bobby Rhine making the all-star team.

The Hunts have enough cash to pay Tevez, add some Adidas money, maybe Pizza Hut or Pepsi and then MLS Tevez. Tevez is worth it! He brights excitiment and his "negro" skills, maybe help cumbia villera be popular in the US.

Note: I am River Plate fan, but see the importance of quality Tevez.

Tevez ain't coming to the backwater that is MLS at age 23. This thread is a waste of space.

so you're saying I shouldn't waste space like FCD does in its roster? I can see the wisdom of that.:p
I actually like posting these things to show everyone what talent is on the market so they know what we won't pay for.
Now I wasn't there but I doubt your acceptance speech for the Tornado started with: "I accepted this backwater job..."
Sure as hell would've been funny though:D

I'm not criticizing your post, and I'm not saying that everybody doesn't have their price, but I am saying that Carlos Tevez would be an idiot to leave Europe for less than, say, 100 million dollars per year. so it's hardly HSG's fault if he, er, declines to come here. ;)

Of course he'd be an idiot. But if we could make enough noise about superstars like Tevez then there may be a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance they would look harder at a deal like Edgar Davids or Roberto Carlos. Our friends in the sales office may watch these boards and a few others in the organization but the ownership group could give a fat crap what anyone on this board thinks. They would flip a coin to decide control of MLS teams. You might as well criticize my post because my wife sure as hell does. To her, every minute I spend on this site is time I could spend working to earn a dollar to give her.:(

speaking of big-name signings though, I've been wanting to ask lately... any of you folks who were around in 96 have much to say about Hugo Sanchez? he doesn't get talked about often, but he may be the biggest single name ever to play for Dallas' MLS franchise.

People probably don't want to talk about him because he talked so much about himself. He's a loudmouth that will be lucky to have 10% of the success in coaching that he had as a Mexican scoring legend. My question is: "where is Robbie Fowler going to end up?"

You would be better off signing Robbie Fowler than Tevez.

Rumor says that Newcastle might be looking to cash in on Owen after the open revolt that's in their dressing room. No money left after the last few years, and the whole Premiership will hold them hostage on any deals with half the players _trying_ to leave.

What's Michael Owen worth these days? Definitely DP, but after the last few years, is he considering the twilight years? Just curious....

Michael Owen slammed MLS as an inferior league about a year ago. Maybe Becks would change his opinion (David Beckham, that is, not Kyle Beckerman).

If he doesn't change his attitude, he can eat his fish and chips (if Dir doesn't steal them) across the pond, I say.

I guess players have to make politically correct statements in case they ever want to play for a lesser league.

A mid 30's guy who can barely get a game for Liverpool or a mid 20's guy who almost single handedly saved West Ham from relegation...I think I'd take Tevez.

Does he come with pre-negotiated fines and points deductions? So if we buy Tevez from West Ham are we buying him from the club, a shady 3rd party investment group or Corinthians....or some combination of all three? Should we just go ahead and file our FIFA appeal now?

This thread is hilarious in it's stupidity.
