If you are LA-bound on a Cup hunt, here's a few more suggestions for nearby activities on Saturday and Sunday. 1. Hollywood United is playing a charity match against Champions United on Saturday Nov. 24rd at Home Depot Center (Pitch 5). Former MLS Brian Dunseth has invited us all down to see 2 great teams composed of former players, actors & musicians. Some of the names that are penciled in so far are Frank LeBoeuf (France, Chelsea), Vivian Campbell (Def Lepard), Richard Gough (Scotland, Rangers), Jimmy-Jean Louis (Heroes), Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace), Brian Dunseth (RSL, Columbus Crew), Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers), Alexi Lalas (Various Debacles), Billy Duffy ( The Cult), and Steve Jones (Sex Pistols). See flyer for more details. 2. If you are looking to get sauced, Long Beach waterfront bar & restaurant The Yardhouse would love to take your money on Saturday night. The are only about 12-15 minutes drive from Carson and have over 75 beers available at their bar. And if you want they will serve it to you in a goblet. Feel free to drop by their after 10pm and enjoy a goblet & water view out on the deck. The Yardhouse LONG BEACH SHORELINE VILLAGE 401 Shoreline Village Dr., Long Beach, CA 90802 Phone: (562) 628-0455 | Fax: (562) 435-5544 3. Sunday morning gets interesting. The ESC tailgate will be in Lot 11. The official Red Bull tailgate being thrown by Red Bull Corporate will be in Lot 4 which is basically in the opposite side of the complex. Make the trek if you dare. See flyer below for more details.
Nick Green's 100% Soccer blog has done a great job with this map calling out spots of interest in the area of the game: Nick Green's map of South Bay spots for MLS Cup 2008
I would like to add my own suggestions: 1. Make sure to stop by By Brazil Brazilian BBQ in Old Torrance; Mon-Fri up until 3 PM its $18 for all the delicious Brazilian BBQ meat you can ever eat. Its pretty much right on Carson st. so you can head to the HDC pretty quickly, in around 15 mins during the afternoon. http://www.gonelocal.com/?owner=123 2. If you want Southern-style BBQ, there is no place better in the South Bay than Lucille's BBQ. It can be pretty pricey but the atmosphere is awesome for big groups. 3. I know its available in NY, but it'll probably be new to Crew fans: Kyochon Chicken. Imagine a Korean version of KFC meets Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles - the stuff is like CRACK, no joke. One of their most popular items is their 30 wings for $25 bucks (about 80 cents per wing). The business is located inside a well-known Whole Foods-ish Korean market called Freshia. http://www.yelp.com/biz/kyochon-chicken-torrance
