http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34135-2003Mar26.html Looks like Tottenham could be coming to town. That means Kasey Keller and more importantly ROBBIE KEANE would be coming! I will be there.
Spurs coming to town?? They're no Chelsea, but I'll enjoy this for sure. I might get to meet one of my favorites, Gus Poyet... Should be a fun game.
As a DC United and Arsenal fan, I salivate at the opportunity to hurl double the vitriol at the Sp*rs.
if they are coming in april as steve indicates, they are probably coming during a break in league play for Euro qualifying. so likely no keane.
Keller and Rimando at opposite sides of the field once again. It's a keeper's dream come true! I liked Spurs before Keller, but that really jumped up when they added him. Then they invite DC to London, and now they're returning the favor, oh yeah, Spurs are awesome! This is the club DC United should be setting up an agreement with ... not Bayer Leverkusen. Glenn Hoddle, you rule! -Digital
BTW, are we still undefeated against EPL teams? I know we tied one and beat at least 2. Leeds United Newcastle United Tottenham Hotspurs (at White Hart Lane in tribute match) Thus far it seems Manchester United hasn't agreed to play us ... would have been nice if they added an RFK DC United date on their next summer's tour though, heh. As a famous UK band said "London Calling." When they come calling, the Black & Red will be ready ... hopefully. -Digital
My dad follows Spurs, so he'd be loving this. Of course, I'll be loving it more when DC beats them again. Interesting note at the bottom, that we might pick up DiGiamarino from the draft. That would be a great addition, since we currently need depth at both left midfield and left back (where we don't have a natural player at all). For the record, our results against English teams are (special thanks to the team for giving me a media guide in a raffle I don't recall entering at Summer's): DC United 1:1 Leeds United (Sanneh 89) DC United 3:1 Newcastle United (Moreno 28, Llamosa 33, Marino [yes, Pete Marino] 50) Tottenham Hotspur 0:1 DC United (Barrett 85)
Ooops..... The reference to Spurs coming to RFK should've said "in May," not "next month." Got my months mixed up. IF the deal is reached, the game would take place a few days after Spurs' season ends.
Thanks Steven for the update. In terms of football this is looking like one great summer. United, Confed Cup, Gold Cup, Us Open, Exhibitions......
Why? At least Leverkusen has been to the Champions League and have a chance to win the Bundesliga title. Not only that but Bayer's manager doesn't have to ask a psychic before deciding the starting line up! Down with Sp*rs! The Shame of London!
Wrong verb tense. Unless by "Have a chance to win the Bundesliga title" you mean "are in danger of relagation."
Bring it on! Can wait to see the match, especially since I wasn't able to make it to England for the last one!!! Vamos United!
Oh you Arsenal supporters. Spurs will eventually have their day. Enjoy yours now. But don't look over your shoulder, because Man U might sneak up on ya. Go Spurs! (except when you play DC United) -Digital
Fixed your post. Sp*rs hasn't won the league in 42 years, that says it all doesn't it. As for Arsenal, they may win the league, may not, but at least they have the quality to do so. BTW - I hope somebody wished you St. Totteringham's Day on Monday after the loss to Bolton...
