Now, while I know that some might be happy with the signing, I fear that Gerrard is too old to make it in MLS and will probably only embarrass himself and all of us in the process. He is far, far removed from his better days and even those were not the best when compared to other bygone players from that era. I know our management has a hard-on from over-hyped and under-talented British 'talent', but why, oh why, do we fans allow this outright prostitution of MLS? Do you guys mean it when you say you don't want over-aged talent coming here or is all that tough talk a load of malarkey that flies out the window once your favorite poster boy is signed? And if you are against over-aged players but in favor of Gerrard, why are you such a racist? Ugh! I can tell this Gerrard thing is going to be a divisive issue between us Galaxy fans. I mean, things would be different is we had a model professional that arrived in time for the start of the season, like say for instance, Giovinco, who btw is 27 years old, who could start proving the disbelievers wrong soon.. but we get to debate this issue until sometime in mid-July when the king of liverpool finally graces us with his royal presence. At least Lothar Matthaus was a world cup winner when he embarrassed the Metrostars. You practically have to be a historian to even remember that Gerrard was part of the Liverpool team when Dietmar Hamann helped them win the Champion's League a decade ago. Seriously, he is coming in July after playing an entire season, then has to play until at least October and then the playoffs start which we will certainly be expecting to represent in. How much is a man of his advanced age going to have left at that point, especially when people these days are impatient and expect result NOW!? I hope I am proven wrong, but I have a feeling that this signing will be a catastrophe and will go down as an expensive flop. When I see the players that other teams are signing, I can't help but feel we are being short changed by our managements obvious favoritism towards British signings. If you feel that I am in error, please feel free to take your time to write an extensive reply, citing sources and giving possible alternative outcomes. Thank you.
You are a massive toolbox sir, and phil neville won 8 EPL titles go and ask most of your MLS pals who they would rather have in their team. its obvious you are biased to italians so rustle me up a nice lasagne boy!
You do have a point. 8 epl titles are rather worthless when they come from a league where teams spend as much as Man City, but can still be total garbage when it comes to the Champion's League. Biased towards Italians? Duh! What self-respecting soccer aficionado isn't when the alternative are dry British players. I mean, the people that thought Pirlo was too old but cheered the gerrard signing must be smoking crack and are an obvious embarrassment to the Galaxy and US Soccer in its entirety. I hear it is all the vaccinations kids take nowadays that are causing these mental deficiencies, but I really don't know for sure. Gerrard is just too bleedin' old to hack it here in MLS. This isn't the EPL where only arab and russian owned teams can win the championship. Every team has to hustle to make the playoffs in MLS and I'm not sure this geezer gerrard has the legs left for a deep play off run. To make matters worse, he is not coming until July, where we will probably be behind teams that actually made good transfers instead of just trying to sell shirts. Lasange? I'd love some! Let's have gerrard make us some. He is probably shite in the kitchen, but he'll probably be more useful there than on the field for us at his advanced age. And while we are speaking of old people, has gerrad signed up for Obamacare yet? A man at his age should really start thinking about his health in what little life he has left.
lol the epl has done better then italian clubs over the last 10 years thats forsure lol the galaxy have won like 3 out of the last 6 yes its wide open lol you really are a massive pasta bellend
If anyone should be taking credit for the strength of premier league teams during that time period, it should be a Saudi Arabian prince and not an Englishman. I hear arab money is so essential in England these days that they are going to change the name of the island to new arabia soon. Meh, I'd rather lose and still have self respect. It's not like all that money has helped the English national team anyways. The 2014 world cup team was the worst in Italian history, but they still managed to beat England. Are we really paying all that money for a player on a team that is the international equivalent of Azerbaijan?
it was the italians who started the foreign influx in the 80s old froot. eh saudi arabia owns 15% of your economy, and lets not get started on how much you owe china funboy please grow a brain before you post again and prepare to unzip gerrards fly beech, england would destroy azerbaijan
Please, england is so awash with arab money that the Queen has to wear a hijab in public or risk offending all the Jihadi Joes you guys harbor and your courts now use sharia law. Back to gerrard though.. Sure he is an old man that comes from a league that supports terrorism, but there are probably some positives in there somewhere. For instance, I'm sure he can regale the younger players about the time he met Zidane.
