It might just be for one show, but it seems like World Football Daily founders and hosts Steven Cohen and Kenny Hassan along with Howard Rogers and Robert Burns will have a Football Found Table (@footyroundtable) on Wednesday August 8th from 7-9pm EST. You can stream the show live at http://www.LaTalkLive.com and call in with questions at 323-247-7443 or on Skype at LaTalkLive. It is not determined whether this is just a one-off or the start of something more regular, but I am looking forward to hearing the voices of one of the most influential US-based(for me at least) podcasts about global football.
I'm looking forward to the podcast tomorrow. I pretty much gave up on WFD a few weeks into Sophie and Martin run. WFD was the first podcast that I would listen to every morning at work for years. It's weird but I don't feel as passionate about the game on a day to day basis since Steven and Ken stopped hosting the show last year. I hope this turns into a semi regular podcast among the boys.
I agree that there was something about Steven & Kenny's chemistry that made the show a "must listen" on a daily basis and definitely got me excited....
It's so good to hear the boys flap their gums about footy. My favorite part of the first 20 minutes was Steven's familiar giggle when Howard went into his Prince of Darkness routine. I really hope this sparks their interest to do a semi regular show. Even if it is every couple of weeks its better than nothing.
Anybody have a download link for it? Their twitter feeds keep saying just go to LATalklive.com but I don't see the show listed. Thanks.
Why not have Lionel Bienvenue also ? And how about the guy who wrote the Football League articles for the newspapers that were sent over on the QE2 to New York ninety years ago ?
Oh and there is even a Facebook page for the Football Roundtable http://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve...all-Roundtable-Podcast/185250788231583?ref=hl
I was ok with Robert and Sophie, but once Martin came in, i just started not to care about the show. I haven't listen to the show since martin came in. I few weeks ago i went to their website to remove credit card info for no automatic renewal. Glad to see these 2 guys back, but didn't appreciate how they just left WFD. Did they sell the business? or are they the owners still and now trying to start a second show. what's the deal?
I am not 100% on the details, but yes they did sell the show to Nox Communications when Steven left. I think Steven left because he was burnt out with all the Liverpool stuff and then after the sale, it seems like Kenny did not agree with the direction the show was going in- he mentioned on twitter that his advice on how the show should go were not heeded. As fans, it does feel like we were left a bit high and dry, but this football podcast business is tricky and it seems very tough to make any money to do it as a business vs. just as a hobby. I am just hoping that there is a new plan that will work to satisfy both them and us...
I will listen to the new show because these guys are entertaining, but I will not pay a fee if they come up with that again. I signed up to pay an yearly fee with WFD when they came up with the original idea, expecting them to be the hosts until the show ends.
Steven Cohen just announced another Football Roundtable for Sunday 8/19 between 9-11pm EST (6-8pm PST) to look back at opening weekend.
it looks like show was cancelled last night due to scheduling issues. i'll post any new info once i get it...
Is Kenny still quoting players names? If so I will not even give the show a chance, I liked Steven and Howard back in the WSD days the other dude I don't know. And what ever happened to Nick Gebber him and Steven were the best and original WSD hosts back in the days when the show was worth listening.
Kenny is still obnoxious. Nick Geber is hosting a daily hour long show M-F from 9p to 10p eastern on Sports Byline USA. The show is available for stream on SBUSA's website.
I agree. I liked Sophie. But Martin was so afraid to express an opinion (except his angry knee-jerk defenses of anything the media does against any criticism whatsoever) that it made the show really boring. A decent partner with Sophie would have been a good show... but I assume it was his contacts who bring in the guests. But it's moot now. Sad to see how it was run into the ground. But I guess it hit me that when my subscription ran out for temporary financial reasons and I was just waiting a week or two to renew, I realized I didn't really miss it. Even a year ago, it would've killed me to not have it for two weeks. Glad to see Stephen and Kenny back together. They were by far the best pair to host WFD, plus they made me care about the show. When they were doing it, I was probably emailing the show almost every day with some rant or another. Engaging the audience is the key and these two could do it great.
