It is not absolute. It is obviously up to Rueda and how he sees him fitting within his tactics.
I would not mind if he is called up but if he is not I won't be losing any sleep over it or questioning Rueda's judgement.

Not surprised you feel that way. I just hope we have a possession midfielder called up to complement Barrios as in three dates Cuellar could easily pick up a nock or accumulate yellows and he called all 5s and had no other possession guys once he sent Lerma home in June.

I am not giving up on Uribe either as some people seem to be doing.

Uribe and Lerma suck on the ball. They are fine players but in systems that you want possession and that you want guys who are going to build the play and break lines on the ball they are not super great at that. They are both good players at what they do and they fit specific needs but they are very different types of players at the end of the day. Cantillo in terms of creativity deep in midfield is the best of our guys but he doesn't seem get a look either.

I think Uribe probably starts in Bogota if he's fit and sharp, but he's the only 8 in the call up. Cuellar is a 5 as are Barrios and Lerma (he can play as an 8 but you are giving up a lot of projection unless he is really feeling it). We have talent to have options and depth.

End of day we need a team of 23 starters. Some games Uribe/Barrios will be better than Cuellar/Barrios and there will be some scenarios where Lerma will be the best option to play. There’s never going to be a magic 11 that will take us through an 18 game WCQ or 7 game World Cup tournament…

Right. That's why it's good to have options. You can't just have Uribe at 8 or C4 at RW.... That's why we have 23 spots as you say and I wonder if they will give some slack due to Covid/triple fixture for more.

I think Alzate may have a shot this WCQ round for at least a call-up.
Lerma is still sitting on that 4-6 game suspension from last season(due to biting an opponent) and so won't be really fit/ready for such a pivotal match.

From what I heard Mejia will be called up though from Santa Fe. If he is called and Alzate isn't there's going to be a lot of angry people in this thread apparently.

Mejia is a 5. That would make so little sense...

Today's legendary clash between Alzate and Cucho will be live on NBC and Telemundo at 12:30 PM EST.

Cool - but why on earth would they feature Brighton - Watford on a national broadcast?

Telemundo would do it because there's a lot of Colombians in the USA who may want to see Colombians play.

NBC may just like that time slot and that is what they get this week.

    Update:
The clash between Alzate and Cucho is going to be a bencher vs. Super Sub clash since both are not in the lineups.

Alzate is on the bench again.

Mina for Everton is not even on the squad roster...

Didn’t he have a good game last time out? Then gets benched the next game. Is this a rotation type coach or is Alzate being singled out?

Was awesome in the opener hasn't played last two matches. It's really weird maybe has a knock or has looked poor on training ground? It's weird.

Well he played against Cardiff in the Carabao cup on the 24th. Assuming he’s not considered a starter on this roster. At least not yet
