The Dallas Morning News' Steve Davis has written an excellent season preview of the Burn:

My favorite quote is from Kreis:

"I've never been the smartest guy about taking care of injuries and sitting out when I need to," said Kreis, who promises that he has learned his lessons. "I wasn't fit at the end of the season, and that's when the team really needs you at your best. This year, I think I'll be smarter about that situation. I think everybody is clued in now."

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed -- let's hope he has indeed learned his lessons.

Wow, that's an impressive quote. Maybe they are figuring it out - it's better to peak towards the end of the season (playoffs) than at the start or middle. Sounds basic, but harder to do.

I can't believe that Jason is making excuses for his lack of goal scoring at the end of seasons. We all know this happens to Kries every season...when it comes play-off time he is nowhere to be found.

Um, it's not an excuse. Every year towards the end of the season, Kreis is always nursing one minor injury or another. 3rd Degree can confirm this and has pretty much beaten the drum that Kreis late-season slumps are related to injuries that haven't been allowed to heal.

Um, ...nursing a minor injury towards the end of a season. Any professional player in the world can give you that excuse. Come on! He played 90 minutes, had his chances, didn't put them in, period.

And in when he's uninjured in the beginning of the season, he puts those shots in.

It's pretty simple to me, and it really doesn't matter to me what the situation is with every other professional player. If an injured Kreis can't hit the side of a barn and an uninjured Kreis scores at will, then it seems to me that the best course of action for the team is to get him healthy when he does take a knock.
