"We need to rip out their throats and shove them down their throats" or whatever Jon Busch once said.
Whatever you do...just no sneakers and dress pants. Whoever started that trend needs some sort of cruel and unusual punishment.
I don't even like that dress shoes have white side-soles (not sure how to say that) nowadays, but the number of people wearing tennis shoes around the office confounds me The crazy thing was we used to have a no jeans rule Mon-Thurs. Nice jeans with casual/dress shoes and a button down shirt look way better than people wearing slacks with sneakers, but the latter was common place even amongst our VP level personnel and up.
I started noticing this during TV news after COVID. I chalked it up to something about sound being picked up when heavier shoes would move across the studio floor. Unless you're in a school where it's an acceptable dress code, no sneakers with dress pants.
I wear running shoes with khakis and a polo every now and then, depending on what I need to do after work. My boss says it's my "basketball coach vibe." But sneakers and slacks? No. No no no.
I've pretty much worn adidas/Puma/Nike since I was in HS--and that was quite some time ago. Made a big difference to my feet. However, I've usually tried for black ones for work. One exception--I found a really nice pair of oxfords, but unfortunately they've worn out and I've not been able to replace them (no longer made). So good I walked up Vesuvius wearing them.
Part of the thing with the sneakers being paired with suits is that the sneakers are likely more expensive than your typical dress show. So it shows of wealth. I'm not outright against sneakers with suits, but if they have a white sole, they need to be impressive
The one that drives me nuts is highschoolers and their prom pictures and stuff. The girls get their nice dresses, hair done, and their boys are wearing... jeans and regular shoes. Just blows my mind.
Anyone interested, tOSU is in the Natty semis with a 4-2 win on kicks over Stanford, who pissed everybody off by holding their practice in Owens, which is forbidden even to the Bucks. Game Saturday (I think) against Clemson at Owens. DK the time.
81 days of sobriety from alcohol and I finally got my labs drawn. My liver enzymes are nearly back to normal after being so high that they weren't able to fit on the chart.
New source of chuckles: Mac users (and others) wondering where their Spotify Unwrapped is. Some of them might even be asking Siri. I know some of us remember the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives. George was way ahead of his time.
Hey guys. I'm in town for a night with my wife who has a little business conference thing tomorrow and I just came along to keep her company. What's the best food I can get in the Polaris area (or not too far away) right now and where I don't have to dress up. Hoping someone responds like in the next 10 mins lol.
This is a good choice. (Eddie Merlot’s might be as well. Bill’s never one to be wrong about dining; I’ve just never been to confirm.)
