Because I don't care about Canada's national team. Then can loose all 3 group games next go round by 5 goals for all I care.
So I didn't know where to put this, but does anyone have any idea of the number of STMs these days? Back when Mark McCullers was trying for that "Goal 10K" to get 10,000 season tickets, I'd be surprised if we had even 6k season tickets. Today? 12k? 14k?
There's a theory going around that there isn't as much emphasis on season tickets anymore as there is on individual match attendance - and even that is taking a backseat to premium seat/suite sales. From a bottom line perspective it makes sense, but it's unpopular amongst the populace.
Great question. I'm guessing it's considrably higher than that. Our lowest attended game last year was a bit over 16K. The next lowest was close to 17.5K. Every other match was over 18K, with seven matches over 20K, and three over 19K. That's a lot of single game tickets sold in excess of the baked in season ticket numbers, if we were only at 12K-14k.. I'd guess at least 15K season tickets. But, admittedly, that's pure speculation.
Knowing the amount of people I know who picked up ST this year, even accounting for those lost, I think it will be a very good year. There aren't too many seats available for the first game, but ticketmaster does what it does. I've seen people on Twitter, specifically those who dropped tickets for various reasons, say that the team is losing STM, but I think they are in a bubble and don't realize how hot tickets are for anything non OSU related; CBJ keeps selling out too.
Devil's Advocate: How many of those games were good weather, premium opponents, etc? The combination of the "new stadium shine" wearing off and higher ticket prices in, say, 2024 vs 2021 will almost certainly lead to a decrease in STMs. Team performance will be the wild card. Hopefully the team starts a little bit of a dynasty to counteract the previous two factors.
That's not just Ticketmaster, but the FO. They're deliberately going to hold some back for group sales. If "Generic Suburbian Youth Soccer Alliance" calls up wanting a deal for a game in July where they bring their entire league, the seats need to be available. "Call this number by this date, mention GSYSA and get a special price to sit with your teammates." They probably don't get too many people calling for individual tickets and even fewer walk-ups, but those who do probably save a few bucks on fees. (I know OSU has something like a $2 fee at the window vs however many fees TM throws at you on the app.)

Let's not conflate or confuse tickets distributed from the turnsitle count. Only one of those numbers matters on the balance sheet. And the other one matters to attendance hawks.
Right, but people make assumptions about turnstile based on the fullness of the stands, and then further extrapolate the tickets sold/distributed number. For example: The assumption that the stadium is not close to sold out for any given game simply because the stands aren't near full.
I assume every game is between 85-100% full, but about 1/3 of our ‘fans’ are just total dipshits that would rather stand in the concourse for most of the game and circlejerk about IPAs and Hot Chicken Takeover.
1) Buy some of the more expensive seats at midfield in the lower bowl, and then never sit there 2) ??? 3) circlejerk about IPAs and HCT
The light of choice, Natty, Miller or Bud has the same consistent taste wherever I go. I'll take it any day.
Could have left off Miller and I'd be fine with any of the rest. I alternate between Natty Light, Busch Light, and Coors Light. When one starts to lose all flavor, I switch to the next. The 30 pack of Natty for $17.99 is a very good deal for an easy drinking beer.
