Well, tbf, a $9 bottle of fortified Kool-aid is fine for the purpose, and better than wàsting a nice cabernet on some chippy who wouldnt know good french wine from Cherry Coke.
What? I think that’s just your interpretation, my friend; I’m not getting that vibe from reading others’ posts. I can’t speak for others, but as for my original post, I was merely stating my interpretation of Gen Z opinions based on my Gen Z son and his friends, and pointing out the dissonance in considering alcohol a “poison” but not THC. No judgment; just stating an observation and pointing out a discrepancy.
The Andersons used to have a really good wine guy. He's now working for Home Buys. They may be worth checking out, if there's one near you. The Giant Eagle near me used to have a good specialty wine section--sadly, they are now a storage unit place.
I would love to know why there isnt a Total Wine store anywhere in Ohio. They have an insane selection.
Liquor laws, no doubt, given that Ohio has a state store system (though not as bad as PA's). I looked at their site--they have mini-kegs of Reissdorf Kolsch. Yum. And Sabra. I've not had that in years.
Not that I regularly or have ever drank the stuff but if I wanted to buy a special occasion 1st growth Left bank Bordeaux, it’s not really anywhere to be found. As has been pointed out, I think because the state decides what comes in.
It is certainly not the free market that decided that a metro of two million people would have no better place to shop for a bottle of wine than one or two aisles in a grocery store.
Go to Annie's Wine Cottage in Powell and tell them what you are looking for. They will get it if it's possible.
The Athletic ranked all 30 MLS Cup winners. 2020 Columbus came in 29th. 2008=14th. 2023=6th. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/70...-30-teams-ranking/?source=user_shared_article
Maybe it's just the nostalgia that it was the first, but seems to me that 2008 with both a Supporter's Shield and MLS Cup championship shows a larger dominance against the field and should be scored higher than the 2023. I'm okay with 2020
So Im looking to get a new suit and I was wondering about Pursuit. Do they do made to measure or are they bespoke? Does anyone have an idea about the qualify?
Yes last year I bought a suit from them and had a good experience. This was more or less off the rack with alteration to sleeve, cuff, and tapered the leg. And a good fabric quality. So no major reconstruction or anything and it was $550 all in. This was I guess the standard option. You can go up a price category and they will do a much more tailored, bespoke situation - not sure how much that costs. Overall pretty good. They’re appointment only.
I had a horrible experience with them, but it was partially my fault. I had ordered a suit from them right before COVID, and then never got around to picking it up for the longest time. I finally tried to pick it up, and they said there was no record of it, so I was out $300 or whatever it was.
https://versiti.org/ways-to-give/annual-blood-drives/columbus-crew-blood-drive There's a blood drive at SMG Field on Thursday from 8-4. Donate blood and walk out with a long-sleeve shirt (while supplies last) and enter to win tickets and a signed jersey. If you can sneak out of work, there's also a tour and Amar Sejdić will show up.
For anyone interested, it seems the CBA allows for post-game autographs. https://s3.amazonaws.com/mlspa/2020-2028-CBA-Long-Form_FINAL.pdf?mtime=20230221184117 Section 8.11 Post-Game Autograph Sessions: Upon request by his Team or MLS, a Player shall be required to make a reasonable number of post-game autograph session appearances at the site of the game. In each year of a Player’s contract, he may be required to make up to two (2) such post-game autograph session appearances without additional compensation. Each additional post-game autograph session appearance shall be compensated at a minimum of $225 for the 2020-2026 League Years ($247.50 for the 2027 League Year only). Post-game autograph signings that are not organized by the Team or League (e.g., Players unilaterally signing for fans) shall not be compensated. A Player shall be given at least twenty-four (24) hours’ notice of a post-game autograph session appearance, and such appearance(s) shall not exceed thirty (30) minutes. For Players on the gameday roster for the game, a post-game autograph session shall start approximately thirty (30) minutes after the end of the game, except for a single fan appreciation game each season, in which case, the post-game autograph session may start earlier than (including immediately following) thirty (30) minutes after the end of the game. For Players not on the gameday roster for the game, post-game autograph sessions may start earlier than thirty (30) minutes after the end of the game. So... Make postgames great again? It's not gonna happen, but we can dream.
So I just picked up an MLS Next game jersey on ebay with the Nationwide Childrens logo on it on ebay. Number 32. A couple of years ago, they had a "Crew 3" fantasy weekend game I got to play in, so I was thinking.... Maybe they should have called it "MLS Last" for all us old guys that were playing....
