Ohio State unveiled a new statue of basketball legend Jerry Lucas. Great news, right? Only here's a satellite view of the area around the arena. The red spot at the NW corner is where the statue is: As you can see, the southeast corner is the intersection of Lane and Olentangy, where tons of cars pass by every day. There's also students who pass by there to get to the southwest entrance which is where they go in with their student IDs. After games, so many people cross Lane and Olentangy that police regularly stop all traffic to allow fans to cross diagonally through the intersection. People who take the bus from the remote parking lots enter at the northeast entrance. This is also where people park to visit the team shop and ticket office during business hours. In something a conspiracy theorist might find interesting, OSU AD Ross Bjork attended a Crew game and now OSU football has a celebrity to ring the victory bell before games...and now OSU has a symbol of recognition at the back door. ...unless someone comes along and tells me that the statue was only *unveiled* there, but will be moved...but that seems a bit strange, doesn't it?
Season ticket parking is in those northwest lots, as is RV parking for football game days. That's also where the attached practice facility is located. It's the right spot for it.
Anyone who buys parking in that lot is overpaying, but that's just my opinion. I'm sure that's why they did it though.
Absolutely, but if someone is still buying season tickets for that garbage product then they're likely not smart about money.
For some people, I'm sure it's nice to have the same seats and not be stuck in the 300s, although I'll admit that I haven't looked up resale prices lately. For some people (big-time donors get a private club and PSL holders get hockey and women's basketball tickets), the benefits are worth the price.
