This has probably slipped under the radar for most of you but they are building a 15k seater with 37 suites and 1250 club seats for around $23 mil. www.viking-fk.no/index.ctm?id=15 click on viking stadion as they have a web cam.
its only 23mil because labor and materials are usually cheaper anywhere else in the world then in the US.
I also lacks soul and any sort of character. Might as well play in a parking lot and put bleachers around it. Even thats got a sense of character.
MLS minimum is 20 k, maybe to avoid the high labor cost it could be manufactured in China or Mexico, whichever its cheeper, why not everything else seems to be made elsewhere
i think that the render doesn't do justice for a stadium.... i think that the final result will be different, I'm basing my opinion on the fact that the render doesn't have details, look the surroundings...
Sardines? Norwegians are noted for their sardines not necessarily can design. I walked through the stadium last month, the rendering doesn't come close, nor does it do the stadium justice. The sightlines are great everywhere. Viking FC is very similar to MLS teams in income and expense, their player payroll is very close. They expect to average 14k per game which will make them profitable and enable them to compete in the CL or UEFA cup. BTW the Norwegian tv contract is $50,000 per club. Soccerfan-where is it written that 20k is the minimum size?
Re: Sardines? Its not written, but Garber has said it over and over that the stadium needs to be in the 20K to 27,500 range.
You would not be able to build that stadium for $23mil anywhere in the US. Therefore common sense would tell me labor and materials are cheaper in Norway.
this stadium has a roof on all sides where as Columbus has no roof. And the stadium design itself seems a little more appealing.
The HDC roof supposedly added $8 million to the price, and it's nowhere near as extensive as the one for Stavanger. I just hope the Norweigans have enough money left over to mount an enormous opener key at one end of the stadium.
Re: Re: Stavanger Stadium well all i know is that its nicer than the current stadium my local team plays in (giants stadium).
Materials are probably not cheaper. The US doesn't have to import the steel. However, unionised labour in the US drives up costs. You must also consider that it will be a lot less luxurious than US stadiums.
If you buy a new soccer stadium, and you invite you're friends over to help you set it up, you might be a redneck.
