STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES

    January 13, 2004

"We respect the personal decision made by Johnny Moore to resign from
his position with the San Jose Earthquakes to pursue other
opportunities," said Michael Roth, Vice President, Communications, AEG,
Investor-Operators of the MLS team. "We appreciate the role he has
played in establishing the Earthquakes as one of MLS' top organizations
both on and off the field and wish him well."

In the interim, business affairs will be overseen by Kate McAllister,
current director of business affairs for the team with a new General
Manager expected to be named in February.

"We are very fortunate to have a seasoned professional like Kate
available to handle day-to-day operations of the Earthquakes while we
interview candidates for the General Manager position," said Roth.
"She will insure that our current plans for the upcoming season will
continue to move forward as the Earthquakes defend their MLS title.
The season ticket base is at an all-time high for this time of year
which not only reflects the tremendous play of the MLS championship
team on the field but the commitment of this organization to the
community and the fans' support of the team.

While negotiations continue with Club America for their purchase of a
portion of the team, there is no timetable for this possible
transaction. We have a great deal of respect for Club America
President Javier Perez Teuffer and have always believed that finding
new partners for the MLS is clearly in the best interest of the
    league."

No, it means they could own up to 49%. MLS owns the rest.

In all seriousness, wasn't there originally talks of AEG and CA doing some sort of co-operatorship (or whatever)? Could that be what they mean?

    Though Blue is probably right....

I think Kate will help the team significantly. She has already done so much for the organization without a lot of people's knowledge. Until the Quakes find a new GM, I believe the club's business affairs will be in good hands.

Although this may be true...it so isn't the same without Johnny...I miss him already.

I can't believe we let him go.

With all due respect to Kate and anyone who may know her personally, in my dealings with her, there was a VAST difference between her and Johnny. She's not half the man (person) Johnny was. No offense. But she's just not Johnny.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Not "probably"... MLS owns 51% of all MLS teams. ;)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp But that alone could be enough for the Earthquakes to keep their name. :)

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!!

I KNOW that. I meant he was probably right about a CA/MLS relationship with AEG out of it. Rather than CA/AEG and MLS.

Today's Mercury News confirms this is what they meant by the word "portion."

Well, at least AEG took the time to issue a press release in response to all the brouhaha. I was beginning to wonder if they could even be bothered.

Still, it ain't much to go on, and no Johnny.

Pixie Feet, while entitled to its opinion, is quite deliberately playing the roll of troll.

It should be red carded. Immediately IMHO.

Yeah you're right. Which is why, after I made that post, I buried the other thread under any other threads I could. ;)

However, I couldn't really help myself there. I'll refrain in the future. :D

I'm trolling? Please. Just because I have a different opinion; I should be "Red Carded". So much for having different opinions on these boards. So much for diversity.

    What is the risk ?
    A sound of tisk-tisk ?
Or being called an Idiot ?

You see Ms. Feet , we are all ill
All to the fault , to speak
We wiil respect the smallest prick
    To whom the Quakes appeal

We love our team , we love futbol
We love to be at games
We even drag out our dames
So we don't miss a goal

I for example live so far

    I for example had enough
Of your garbage - Dear Ms. Feet

We have a team , we have some style
In the town of San Jose
There is no reason to be blaze
If it will be gone in a while

As I for one can't watch MFL
G-d knows I tried and tried
But in this drek poem I would have lied
If I said it wasn't hell

The Earthquakes SHPIEL, the Earthquakes ROCK
    The team was without defect
So on this board to gain respect
Please stuff your punim mit a sock

    Cheerio.

I am watching Atlas 2 - Santos 2 on FSE from HDC
I don't think that I have ever seen a more ferkakte 2-2 game in my life.

It's a message board PF....generally people would back up JM bashing with a reason but you just throw it out there and wait for reaction. Boring and childish.....I actually would like to know why you are glad JM is gone......if in fact you are glad.

Did you all see something go through this way?

Nah.... I must be seeing things.

Please don't entertain the ghosts. They're just around for shock value. Don't let them get you riled up.

    Nothing to see here folks....

I'm not going to ask for it to be red carded, even though its main purpose appears to be to post contrarian opinions and rile up the Quake faithful. So far, the regulars here are doing a pretty good job of ignoring it, no matter how much it stamps its little pixie feet.
