Interesting read.. some things you might not think of. Carrick beeing second in team tackles for example. Cudos to him for that

Stats are always deceiving in football because of the way the game is played and positions getting more action, and therefore making some stats irrelevant.

Saha's shooting percentage is so "high" because he has little problem getting shots on frame, unfortunately - he hits most of his on target shots right at the keeper - especially in 1v1 situations.

I expected scholes passing percentage to be high, but that high is just ASTONISHING for how many long balls he play and what not. All hail he scores goal scholes

I'm not really shocked... Scholes has always been deadly accurate... He hasn't had as much of the ball as he's had this season, but w/ Keane's absence he was always going to end up with 2000+ passes.

It's not only the number of passes. But for a creative midfielder to have a 91.7% pass completion rate is an awesome feat. It's not like he's just rolling the ball around the back like Rio for instance...

He's been having that kind of pass completion rate for years, so its not that shocking.

PS, Rio doesn't simply roll the ball around the back four. Of all our defenders he's the one most likely to spark a counter attack and also passes forward better than the entire team bar Scholes, and Carrick. Yes, even better than Rooney at the mo.

Does Scholes really win 70% of the tackles? Or do they count fouls as "successfull" tackles?

All I meant was as a defender you get a certain ammount of passes for "free"

Agree with Johno, Rio is a very good distributor of the ball from the back. He sparks counterattacks as well, probably even better now that he has a reliable partner in Vidic.

How is "dribble %" measured? The amount of time a dribble ends up being successful? How do you define successful?

I'm not taking anything away from Carrick, but he is playing the position in a 4-4-2 that should be #1 or 2 in tackles.

Hmm...I can think of another reason why his "fouls won" number is so large and it doesn't involve sore shins. ;)

Exactly, Its amazing he can always seen to put that 35 yard ball across the field and lay it on Neville's foot.

Actually he isn't. Lets look at other Prem players with about that many fouls won...
    Diouf (65)
    Cristiano Ronaldo 63
    Arteta (60)
Hmm...those three have something in common. Hint: it isn't a reputation for trying to stay on their feet.

Thats because he does not get half the calls he should. But no matter. He's going to score two this weekend. :D

    piss off :p :D

However, I still stand by my statement.. he hardly ever goes down anymore. I'm not saying that there are no incidences when he has. Just that they are not very many..

Be nice. he is just bit bitter because he is a Gunners fan and with him growing up with a hand like that I can see why he is a bit mentally unstable. :)
