Ah what a Sunday... today one of the biggest rivalries in the world met on the pitch. They met for the 353rd time. The Brazilian classic Gremio x Internacional the classic GRE-NAL, two teams from Porto Alegre where there 80,000 seat stadiums are just 3 miles apart. Red vs Blue. After 13 classics and 3 1/2 years Internacional beats Gremio 2-1. After years of suffering due to Gremio's various championship (Libertadores, Brazilian championships, Copa Brazil's) and Inter's 10 year dryspell of National titles, Inter is on the rise. After going down 0-1 in the first half the youth on Inter came into play. 2 players that just played on the Under 20 Brazilian National team in the Uruguay championship, Cleiton Xavier and Daniel Carvalho, came in and made things happen. Then midway through the 2nd half the young 17 year old rookie DIEGO that Inter fans have EXTREMELY high hopes for came in and got the assist on Inters 2nd Goal. DIEGO has a TWIN brother DIOGO that also just got promoted to the pro level. The future is looking better. 353 Gre-Nal's since 1909 and Inter now has a 15 Win advantage.
>>I never heard of Internacional, so it cant be that big of a rivalry.>> Inter up until last year had been CBF's #1 ranked Brazilian Club of all time. Not to mention the only Brazilian team to win a Brasileiro Championship Undefeated. Maybe you havent heard of them because they have been in a 10 year slump..but they are coming back. Not to mention they have produced some of Brazil's greatest players among them: Falcao Batista Jair Dunga Taffarel other current notables Lucio (Current Brazil starter) Fabio Rochembach (Barcelona) Christian and many many more... You know them now...

Star Date 354 Grenal Today, Sunday March 9, 2003 . The Classic Grenal # 354 between Gremio and Internacional both from Porto Alegre Brazil. Played at Inter's Beira Rio stadium in which Gremio hasnt won in 11 years. Gremio needs a win to continue in the fight for the Gaucho Championship, a win would secure Inter in the final round along with Juventude and 2 others. Grenal short for GREmio x InternacioaNAL is one of Brazil's greatest rivalries. Inter still leads the alltime wins count in the classic by a dozen or so games. Its just a great great rivakry in this city of 1.5 million. Gremio will play with recently aquiered Christian whic a few years ago was Inter's star player. After soending a few years in Europe Christina came to Gremio on loan. Inter fans were extremley dissapointed since Christian is an Inter developed player and a Gremio killer, now wearing the enemy colors. I predict Inter 3 x 1 Gremio.
Classic # 354 Diego the 17 year old phenom, his twin also promoted sits on the bench, for now. Final Score: Internacional 1 x 0 Gremio WATCH THE GOAL HERE: http://www.clicrbs.com.br/clicstation/jsp/player_expanded.jsp?nomeVideo=video/363303.rm&uf=RS - Gremio eliminated from Gaucho Championship - Inter moves into Final rounds - Inter's 17 year old Diego (not to confuse with Santos 18 year old) shines while Gremio's veteran new star Christian is subed early in 2nd half.
