It's a slow news day...but I found this on the beachsoccer.com website: http://www.beachsoccer.com/teams_n/team.asp?t=IRELAND Frankie, Gerry Peyton, Tommy Coyne...talk about a blast from the past. BTW, Cantona plays for France and LeTissier for England, Matthaus for Germany... Any chance Keano will play?
Naaaw! The pitch is crap; anyway isn't McCarthy in line to be the manager? (Very delicate and sensitive, our Roy)
Read an article in the Mayo News about 6-8 weeks ago, which was regarding a soccer club in Achill who were trying to organise a Beach Soccer tournament around the August Bank Holiday. They were trying to get Eircom League teams involved. They were basing it on a tournament held on the the Isle of Man (or Wight can't remember!!). They were hoping to get Cantona over as an 'ambassidor' of Beach footie. could be agood weekend on the pish if nothing else
Well considering how much time the basatrd spent on the beach when he played for the MetroStars, I'm not surprised. HOYO! God, where are the metro fans when I need them...
Re: Re: Stapleton and other still playing for Ireland! Right here MT, but I dont think he is actively playing for them right now, isnt he the coach of a team in Austria? True, Lothar's time at the Metros was a shambles. I think MLS should not allow foreign players over 35 to come into the league as it is not a retirement league like NASL was.
Re: Re: Re: Stapleton and other still playing for Ireland! I think he's coaching Austria Vienna, in between suing former club Bayern Munich and dating 17 year old Munich girls!
Sorry to keep this thread going, but all the Lothar talk reminded me of one of the greatest fanzines ever. Translate this page into English on babbel fish, and you won't be disappointed: http://www.gti.net/mmejido/matthaus/matthaus.html
