Stanford 3-0 Seattle A few observations: As Rat alluded to, finishing has to improve. Hit more posts than actual goals scored. Other than 1 miscommunication in the back, the opponent's attack was easily stifled. Girma is a very good central defender. But a much better center mid. I first saw her play the role against USF, and it was no fluke. Offers much improved passing from either foot, pace, and effortlessly penetrates the PA with the ball. Has really good spatial awareness, as a result, receives the ball in space where she can carry the ball forward. Friday's opponent is Ole Miss. the winner of the earlier Hofstra-Wisconsin match will meet the winner of Stanford-Ole Miss. Friday KO scheduled for 1900 PST
Stanford 2-0 Tennessee The Card are going back to the College Cup. Next up are FSU. KO scheduled for Friday 1630 PST. FSU are a tough out. Should it come down to PKs, it would be a situation that FSU are not unfamiliar with, and I think they will prevail having been through that wringer. Both FSU and UNC have survived penalty shootouts against USC & UCLA,respectively. We have to win in regulation, and that means not leaving goals on the field. The winner of Stanford-FSU will face the winner of UNC-Georgetown, and are scheduled to play next Sunday.
FSU 2-0 Stanford from the chron: Stanford women’s soccer team falls to Florida State in NCAA semis All of Stanford's shortcoming were exposed in this one. Very painful to watch. Mark learned from his team's shortcomings last year against Stanford, made adjustments and improvements a year later, and won this time around. Can next season's edition rise to the challenge of winning it all?
Is it still dead week? No press on gostanford.com so had to lift this from ussoccer from a couple of days ago. Congrats to Tierna Davidson - USSoccer Young Female Player of the Year
