Well, there'll be a new No. 1 team come Monday.

Undefeated Stanford, the consensus No. 1 in all 3 polls, was upset at home by Tulsa 3-1.

Freshman Ryan Pore scored the first 2 goals for the Golden Hurricanes, who are 6-2.

BTW, Pore, an 83, has now scored 7 goals in 8 games. If Thomas Rongen has a camp this January for new and fringe players who had a strong college season (and I expect him to do that), Pore is making a strong case to be included.

Tulsa clearly deserved this one. Their two forwards (Pore and Brown) are jackrabbits who made good runs and received good service. They continually tore Stanford's overhyped backline to shreds. If Tulsa's first half finishing hadn't been so dreadful (nerves?), they could easily have scored more. To their credit, though, they did have some well-struck goals in the second half.

For its own part, Stanford was very flat. In addition, they looked disorganized. After starting the season in a 4-3-3, they were in a 4-4-2 last night. IMHO, given their personnel, the 4-3-3 is really the only way for them to go.
