Long, long, long time lurker. Like a few have mentioned, I was watching the Dutch league on ESPN back in the 90s - it was pretty much Ajax every week and whoever they were playing and and loved Bergkamp, Overmars and also Glenn Helder with Vitesse. Around the same time I joined a men's team in Houston where there were several English guys who talked up the premier league and then read Fever Pitch and I was hooked.

First match I remember watching was Nayim lobbing Seaman.

First match live was against Coventry at Highbury in '99.

I've since had the good fortune to go to one match almost every year thanks to a generous season ticket holder who is good friends with one of my best buds in NYC (Sunderland this year). Having a British wife with two siblings in London, one on the Caledonian Road helps too!

Love this team and love reading all your thoughts on this team. Congrats to us all on this long wait! Can't wait til Gabriel nods in two corners against PSG -- he's overdue!

Potential for us to equal the wins/goals conceded/goals of the Invincibles season under Arteta which would make for a nice little bit of trivia.

Artetas team has the Invincibles covered for clean sheets (19 v 15) and match days spent top of the table (31/38 v 26/38).

Had I been there last night, I would've walked down to where Highbury still stands. Taken a bottle of bubbly, popped it, poured it in a glass, toasted one of the walls, drank from the glass. Then put the cork back, left it with the glass and written "For Claude, whereever you are," and left it there.

Much as they are my fav team - they played in a much weaker league than today's side.

Course we have a deeper squad than then

Yep, no pressure now. Play with zeal, play with swagger in Budapest. If PSG punk us, fine, at least we got the league. BUT GO AT THEM WITH A "F THE WORLD" ATTITUDE~!

I am quietly confident and very keen for the PSG match.

Arteta from the outside seems like he learns a lot from losses and I think he will have taken a lot away from the EFL cup loss to City.
We went in as favourites, didn't take our chances, conceded silly goals and couldn't get back into the game.
I think the experience of playing a strong team in City at Wembley in a big match even if I don't personally rate that trophy was valuable experience in navigating a cup final environment which has a different feel to it than a massive league game.
And I think he will have seen things that Bayern did right against PSG offensively, and what they did wrong defensively and use that to our benefit.

The only concern I have is that PSG punish mistakes and in the UCL seems very clinical in the 5 or 6 games of theirs I saw.

Means when we get our chances, which we will, we need to bury them.

Really think the players will be up for it. When Saka after the Atletico match said they had an opponent they preferred for the final I am certain he meant PSG. We absolutely have it in us to win the UCL.

Still not forgiving Wenger for 2015-18.

I am that small minded about it.

Haven't thought about the CL at all, partially because I couldn't care less about UEFA competition these days

While it would be nice to win - the league is everything IMO.

I can almost give up watching football now that we finally did it.

Someone needs to write about what happened then, because we've heard whispers (mostly from Ted) that it was really, really bad inside the club.

Wenger really should have retired in 2014 (but the early statDNA signings were . . . questionable).

    Wenger stood around too long

The Raul period could be a good crime book allegedly.

Edited by the management for legal reasons. :D

2015-2018 was the nadir, depressing times. I remember watching that City v Arsenal draw when we failed to qualify for CL on a 13 inch tv mounted on a ********ing bar stool. DEPRESSING

Ted never provided details, but basically sounds like Wenger had so much on his plate that he wasn't working on tactics and wasn't making decisions about transfers. Would explain why there was a period every single season where the team would just get annihilated on the counter.

I was Wenger out then, I was skating where the puck went. I was hearing from finance guys what the Eastern Euros/Arabs/Yanks were planning on sports expansion and buying undervalued assets. Shit was peak. We really got it out the mud man.
