Head to Australia there are heaps of NY and LA hats, heaps of fans of the teams out here. The question isn't asking who they are, its asking how the hell they end up supporting them. Some people love the sport, picked a random team. Some support the team through friends or family. Some wear it for fashion cred. Its a lot like the Chicago Bulls, Anaheim Ducks and Charlotte Hornets in the 90s. Bulls because everyone knew Jordan/Bulls games were the only ones shown here, Ducks because of the Mighty Ducks movies and Hornets because their colours and logo were weirdly popular and fashionable. The funniest ones were people who knew a player but not the team. I knew of people that had Gretzky/Beckham merch in the 90s who didn't know what teams or sports they played but they were fashionable kits.

Hats with team logos or badges dont look right. Baseball hats with 1 to 3 letters on them look classic and clean. I have 6-7 hats of baseball teams I'm not even a fan of because I like the look. Not a Yankees hat, of course, that would be gross. And I dont have any NFL, MLS, NBA, college, etc hats of teams Im not a fan of.
I haven't exactly scoured, and in fact I just spent 2 minutes, but this kinda confirms my hunch that the 1971 double-winning parade was something not dissimilar. (sorry it's just a smallish thumbnail) And I didn't look into 1989 or 1998, but those might've been fairly epic as well. But something tells me that this one might just be the biggest of all? Perhaps some Arsenal historian(s) have done a little comparison?
