how is it going to look on tv to see stadiums under construction next season?

im talking about stadiums demolishing their stands and building new ones and just plain building new stadiums among their own stadium they have now (not munich)

anyone have a full list? if not mistaken Cologne should be finished with theirs by the time the new season starts. Frankfurt probably wont

Berlin is under construction until June 30, 2004. Certainly visible on TV, but they are already pretty far as it seems.

Dortmund is expected to be completed in this summer break.

Frankfurt construction lasts until 2005. Will be recogniseable on TV.

Hannover lasts until 2005. Big construction next season as they turn the pitch and build two new stands simultaneously.

Kaiserslautern is expected to be finished later this year. Construction is visible on TV

Cologne is finished for the start of the 2004/05 season. You'll see construction on TV.

    Leipzig takes until November.

Munich is completed at about summer 2005

    Nuremberg needs until June 2005

    Stuttgart starts renovating in 2004.

Frankfurt is far from being ready! The stands behind the goals are both ready. The Main stand is still the old one, should be blown up sometimes soon. The other side is supposed to be ready until the season starts, but i kinda doubt that.
So the first games we might only have the two stands behind the goals (20000ppl) until the other one can be reopened.

12.6.03, you see that not even the lower rank is finished! I dont know how they want the whole stand to be finished till season start....

I heard rumors that VfL Stuttgart wants to build a fussball-only ground. The rumor is that they're trying to see if they can build one for 75 million Euro and that the city council has given them a deadline of June 16 to submit a plan that satisfies all the requirements for the World Cup.

I'm guessing they stadiums won't be finished quite as quickly as the HDC. Then again, it's pretty tough to get too much done with 4.5 hour German work day!

MSV Duisburg is going to start demolishing the Nordkurve and Gegengerade July 14.
The new bleachers will be finished in March 2004. The the Haupttribüne and the Südkurve will be razed, too. The new stadium without track, and a roof for everyone will be finished during the 2004/05 season.

The capacity is going to be around 30000. MSV Duisburg plans to have rejoined the Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season.

Off the top of my head: Pisspott?

Where in God's name is Duisburg getting that kind of money from? Although God knows they need a new stadium.

Don't ask me, but already this season they are active on the transfer market like hardly any other team - and no bad players, they really belong to the favourites for next year's promotion.

Alright we get that question all the time :)
Walter Hellmich, president, CEO and manager in one person restructured the whole budget, got rid of 15 (!!) players who earned more than they deserved.
The 14 players we got now did't cost a single Euro, and the contracts are cheaper for the club than the ones before.

The stadium (ca 40Mio €) is financed by the city of Duisburg, MSV, and various sponsors like König-Brauerei, Sparkasse, Haniel and ThyssenKrupp.
MSV Duisburg got a 20 million-"Landesbürgschaft" from Northrhine-Westphalia also. Don't aks me to translate THAT :)

MSV's aim is it to be promoted after the 2004/2005 season.

Wow, good for them! I always regarded Duisburg as a somewhat dull, but nonetheless likeable little club (no offense meant there).

Refresh my memory: the old stadium had an oversized zebra or something, right? Or was it a beer can? I know there was a giant something looming over one of the stands, but I'm getting a mental block on just exactly what it was.

There is an oversized zebra. The reason why you can't remember is the oversized beer you had in your hand :)

well actaully there USED to be a zebra, it was sponsored by Thyssegas, and after that by Citibank, but since they quit sponsoring us they removed the zebra. I liked it :-/

I've been thinking about this one. It actually looks more like a grounded blimp.

how far is the place where the allianz arena is being constructed from the olympic stadium? just wondering since i read its in the frottmaning district and it is far from the downtown area.

    will this affect attendance?

How come they havent decided to use the Rheine-stadion in Dusseldorf?
thought that would've been a good world cup venue.

    Hi!

The new stadium is around 5 miles away from the old. And it is located around 7 miles from Munich downtown.

My guys (FCB) won´t have problems with the attendance. 90% or more of the games will be sould out. A big problem are the midweeks games in the German league, because many of the Bayern fans come from bigger distances, partially up to 150 miles. And sometimes the first round games in the CL are not almost sold out.

And 1860 never has an attendance bigger than 20.000, except in the derbies. So what will they loose? *g*
