I was under the impression that you are getting a new stadium, that Home Depot payed 70 mil for. Am i just totally wrong here or what? Galaxy stadium which will open in June 2003 and seat 27,000 was financed by Anschutz Entertainment Group [AEG] the operators/investors of the Galaxy and four other MLS clubs. It will be centerpiece of an 85acre sports complex that will also include an 8,000 seat tennis stadium, a track stadium, and host both the 2003MLS Cup and next year's MLS All Star game. The trainning center will also have seven soccer fields and a three-mile jogging path with 12 fitness stations. A two story support building will include 10 locker rooms two trainning rooms, a weight room, a players lounge, a comissary, laundry facilities, and office and storage room. The trainning facility will also make money for the Galaxy through agreements with foreign clubs and national teams. Los Angeles is trying to establish a relationship with Argentina power River Plate. The Galaxy hope to make the bulk of their money through greater control of concessions and parking revenue and its 43 luxury suites. The new complex will have two amenities which the Rose Bowl can't boast: a team store and a restaurant that will seat 450.

Someone told me that four of these practice fields will have different kinds of grass, so that they can get used to a certain kind of grass before they play on it somewhere else in the world. And the Philadelphia Charge are a WUSA team. I don't know why they chose them for these pictures, though. Does LA not have a WUSA team?

I think there's a rumor going around that we're going to have this really cool stadium that is going to be the premiere soccer stadium in North America. I thought Pete Sampras was building a tennis stadium there and they "might put a small soccer field or two" next to it. Maybe I'm misinformed.... themack
