Hosted by K-Mart himself. Free shovels for the first 500 attendees. Music. Food trucks. Seems just a touch more substantive than Austin's high single digits event.
Every time I see that there is a new post in this thread, I'm hoping to find some stadium porn. I'm also hoping to be able to slip out of work to attend the groundbreaking.
Two years ago it started as a nightmare. Then it became a dream. Now, it's about to become a reality. Never underestimate the power of a dream.#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/jALZJ6T7Ol— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) September 17, 2019
Garber will be there. Take it to the bank. At the time of the Austin announcement, I did some quick research and found out that, as far as I can tell, he has never once missed a team announcement or a stadium groundbreaking. Never. And since he knows that his actions will be compared to what he does in Austin, and since he was there at the Austin groundbreaking, he absolutely has to come to CBus. If nothing else, it screams "guilty" and "coward" and he can't have that. His ass would be mocked from here to China. Which brings us to our response, and while it's up to each individual, I think booing him is exactly wrong. It's what everyone will expect and since when did Crew fans do what was expected? Instead, since we'll be conveniently standing - I can't believe they're going to truck in a bunch of chairs to set on dirt - I would like to see everyone silently turn our backs on the asshole. No boos, no catcalls, just utter silence and a crowd of backs. What the back of your shirt has written on it - well, that's a matter of personal taste. Or lack thereof.
Good idea, but we'd never pull it off. DeWine got booed, FFS, and he helped save us from Garber. I think the coward no shows. Or he'll show for some other contrived event where they can control the crowd.
