Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Not to mention, the county (and Snyder) would make so much more money turning it into townhouses or a shopping mall than they would renting it to anyone. For more $$$ than RFK, too, I'm sure.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... The market is dead. There are empty malls and unsold units all over the area.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Isn't stopping them from building new ones out here in Loudoun County, doubt it is in that county either.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that [the market] here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Which, hopefully, will weight heavily on the plans of any RFEI pretenders, surrendering the field to MacFarlane and Chang
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... "Here" meaning what? I'm in Mount Pleasant and while prices have declined a bit for condos in my neighborhood (and Columbia Heights), the housing market in general is still doing pretty well. There was a huge profit margin on units close in the city and the incentives and price cuts are narrowing the profits of some developers with particularly high-end units - but none have are defaulting around here. A lot of developers are also willing to let them sit vacant to see what they can get later on. If you mean the suburbs and apartment to condo conversions, I'd have to agree with you.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... My post was a quote from The Princess Bride. Guess I should have used a '' I don't believe that real estate anywhere is ever totally dead. One man's default is another man's opportunity. If I didn't think I'd feel too much like a vulture, I'd go on a foreclosure raid in a couple of months. Guess I'll count out all my pennies instead.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Clearly I need to leave work before I post. Or at least take a deep breath. Sorry about that.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... No worries. I often compose entire angry posts before realizing that I have responded to something that wasn't intended. Luckily most of the time I realize it before hitting 'Submit'
The Real Stadium News and Speculation VII | Email Fenty at Mayor@dc.gov or adrian.fenty@dc.gov I thought I was going to have to stop being lazy and have a detailed post to explain myself until I thought that sounded vaguely familiar. Then I hit refresh. For the time I spent on this post and changing the title, I could have explained myself. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... I now say that [with accent] every time they talk about Juan Pablo Montoya during the NASCAR races Just me?
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Philadelphia doesn't even have a ^&#*@! team yet, and they're closer to getting a stadium than we are.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Finally...a mention of a soccer stadium: It's the last sentence in the History section of Colonial717's link. It's not new phraseology...but at least it hasn't been removed.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... But it's nowhere in the "Vision" section Interesting way to weed out curiousity seekers and the like, make you register, then only speak when the boat is on the water. I wonder if the Odyssey will cruise by PP during the presentation, one would think so. Maybe a few of us with scarfs shuold stand on the lot when they cruise by That's a a nice boat, but I prefer the other dinner one where you can go out on the deck and enjoy the breeze and smoke.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... That was the funniest damned thing I've read this year! I don't care if he meant 'tool' but typed 'stool'.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... Philly has a stadium but no team right? What is there to stop the MLS who own all of the teams from forcing a move by DC United to that location? Maybe I am parinoid or something but the leage is not exactly forcing the District or the surrounding areas to pony up a new SSS like they did in several other league cities...
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... The Vision section was taken verbatim from the AWC plan, which had a stadium on it in the last version made available to the public. The language, like all "vision" language open ended. It doesn't really help getting a stadium there but doesn't specifically forbid a stadium either.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... The market is a complex animal. Speculative units in undesirable locations are dead.
Re: Wash. Post - Stadium comment... What stadium? The football stadium? No that doesn't count. Has to be SSS.
