sadly but true, if no dc united in final, no supporters groups except out in lot8 and zero atmosphere.
Great letter from KP but with one teeny tiny error. I beleive that the largest crowd ever at RFK stadium for a sporting event was the U.S.-Portugal Olympic soccer match on July 24, 1996. Wiki has the attendance at 58,012. I want to say they sold several thousand obstructed view seats for that game. On a slightly different note, the flags and banner looked awesome on TV! Great job by the SGs!
There was also supposed to be a fair amount of phantom attendance counting at the Olympic game. From what I've heard they included everyone in the stadium at the time - concessionaires, security, etc. It's a sore point w/ some of the DCU folks.
I know you guys will be there K, as you guys go to everyone, I was just saying noone will be there with the atmosphere unless DC is it in (at least better not be if your a real dc united supporter!!!!)
well, I would say some of us will be there, but I'd guess one section, 2 tops, not the 3 we normally do, or the 6 we'd be able to fill if we were in it For instance, I will be inside no matter what, but if United isn't playing, the seat next to me will be empty while Lisa drinks beer in Lot 8
I'll be in section 118 whether DC United is there or not. If DC isn't in the MLS cup final I'll be sitting in 118. I wonder what that would feel like. I hope I don't find out. It would be an early post-season Norteno gathering.
It feels ************ [edit: since when did they start editing out '************'. If 'shit' is OK, why not shitty? And how come it's not consistently edited?]. I was at last year's MLS Cup, and seeing the Revs there in place of our guys was gutting. I hope you don't get to experience this. I sure as hell don't want to go through that again. It would be even more painful to have that take place in our own house. So, therefore, it just can't. At all. Period.
i will NEVER EVER go to a MLS cup that dc united does not take part of. dc united till I die, i could care less about any other club in MLS, and i would hope all dc united supporters feel the same!
The problem is that I want to go to this one with my family...which means buying tickets now rather than waiting to see whether we make it and then risking not getting any. Big crapshoot, this one. And we are kind of drifting off topic, aren't we? So, to get us back on, I'd suggest that those who live in DC make sure that they e-mail to their councilmen and women that pic of the Barra with all of those DC flags and remind them that there is a lot of love for the District expressed by this team's fans. Let them know the team has to stay in DC.
I don't. I've been to every MLS Cup. Well, except the one time that Southwest screwed up my flights. And I've been to most of the All-Star games. There's a difference between supporting other teams and supporting the league. I do the latter.
