Anyone have a way of finding out if United has gotten a contract on the possible land that Goff mentioned a while back? He said in the next 3-5 days, so I'm just wondering...
Non-DCU related but pretty good news: http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/investing/bal-mdbonds0304,0,4186446.story Interesting about the individual purchasing almost 60% and if this deal goes through DCU fans could purchase some of the stadium bonds directly from the state.
Re: Stadium News XIX: Washington Times Reporters Not Welcome Do the double colons in the thread title make sense?
Re: Stadium News XIX: Washington Times Reporters Not Welcome It's always good to have a redundant colon, DC has Fenty Speaking of Herr Mayor, he was on Channel 5 this morning and the anchor lady asked him about DC United and how he let them slip away to the PGC. He hemmed and hawed and said "you try to work out a deal that benefits the people of the city ... blah blah ... it's not sure they will end up in PG yet, we're still holding out hope" ..... and some other stuff that made no sense.
http://www.legistorm.com/earmark/6368.html $34 million for largo metrorail extension That can only be helpful. I'm not quite sure what the money is for, though, as the extension work seems done to me, but I can't say I'm in the know about any of it. Anybody know what these funds are for?
A tunnel (with people mover) that runs from our stadium to the metro stop? Anything that allows them to expand the stations and/or parking has got to be good.
Of course both VA senators were the requesting members once again proving many of the fans are in VA.
You know, getting to this stadium might not be any harder for those of us living in Virginia than RFK used to be. I'm thinking of heading down to the Springfield station and (presumably with a stadium being built along the blue line) simply riding all the way to PG County. No changes, no transfers. It's a straight shot. Just like how I used to go from Vienna to Stadium Armory.
How did you used to drive to Vienna, and how do you propose to drive to Springfield - that's the big difference, since they are nowhere near each other .... and what do you mean "used to be", do you mean "currently"?
The new stadium is done, man, didn't you know? Somewhere between 1010010100010101010 and CHROPHHUGPHPQMQMM they broke ground and had the fan club open house... You need to check this thread more frequently, dude.
Well - It'd still probably easier just to come into the city on the Orange Line, get off and wait (about 6-10 minutes) on the platform at any station for the next train and continue on the Blue Line - No changes or transfers that way either
I too have been taking the Orange line into RFK. I'm hoping Metro will have some Orange line trains dedicated to go to the new stadium. For the Chelsea game at Fed Ex, they had trains running from the stadium back to Vienna. asitis
Re: Stadium News XIX: Washington Times Reporters Not Welcome What an idiot. Holding out hope? For what? I got your hope right here, you bald-headed moron.
Re: Stadium News XIX: Washington Times Reporters Not Welcome Here's a little trick a friend taught me for when people start saying things that don't make sense: add "in an alternate universe" to the end of what they say. It works!! Really! Like adding "in bed" after fortune cookie fortunes. See here, watch: Voila!! Perfect sense!!
