What about selling the name to Corona for even half a million and use that for getting a better player or additional roof. I guess there could be a family issue? Here is my secong question: What about a franchise player policy? I think every team should be forced by the league to have at least one player (Franchise) that gets paid a multi million dollar contract with a $500,000 per year minimum. That would mean each team has at least one pretty known name player that fans would want to see. For example even though he has not proven anything yet, I can't wait to see Adu just to see if he is all that media makes him to be.
I hope we can get our own name in there somehow (unlike the Home Depot Center and like Columbus Crew Stadium but with a better name). Ideas.... The Furnace Uncle Lamar's House of Whoop Ass (Good luck) both of which aren't my ideas, but are good ones. Scorched Eath Stadium maybe. Or you could work in a Corona angle, Corona Furnace warm beer served all night (hahah jp) RE: Big Name Players- What big name players who aren't old want to play for MLS?
Sorry, but it already has an official nickname. "The Frisco Hole" no changing it now. I think they even have letterhead with that on it.
I am not sure what you really mean as many players I believe would want to live in America and play soccer if they could have a million and half contract for 2-3 years. Specially Americans playing oversea. By big names I don't mean world superstars as they go for 3-5 million a year.
I think this is a great idea. But I think it will have to wait until all teams can make a profit and the salary cap is higher. No point in rasing salary costs when the league is not doing well.
For me, there's only one good unofficial nickname: Uncle Lamar's House of Whoop-Ass Let other teams go for the effeminate pseudo-Euro nicknames or the clever plays on words. However, "The Frisco Furnace" isn't too bad.
