I think the annoucement well be something like this: "We are proud to announce that an agreement has been settled and details will be explained in the next 60-90 days"
sounds good. things should be finalized for guys by now. it does seem kind of odd that Garber isn't listed if this is the real announcement that it's done.
I hope it's good news, because I'm currently watch the game (vs. Rapids) and the crowd is adding to the excitement. A home team need the crowd behind them, it's just horrible in those NFL stadium. Good Luck. Let's Go MLS
Keep this in mind: All you want to hear about is bond financing. Either you want to hear a date that the HCIA is going to float the bonds, or you want to hear that the investors have decided to forget the HCIA and self-finance. Anything else is not progress. Of course, real news on this only happens when I am away on vacation, which I will be as of 8 am tomorrow. So it's probably something good.

"The stadium is part of a $160 million plan to redevelop a derelict 135-acre tract with offices and retail space, about 400 rental apartments" Where the true Metro fan will move! I wonder how much the rents will be?
This could have an impact on attendence though I wouldn't know how much more accessable this location is for trains, etc.. than the stadium now?? "The stadium will be located across the river from Newark off Interstate 280 and within walking distance of the Harrison PATH station, making it accessible via a 15-minute, $1.50 subway ride from Manhattan..."
Well congratulations to you guys. it has been a long time coming. You deserve it more than anybody. Now they need to to something like revamping the crappy coaching in this league. Nicol and Sarachan. Bob needs to be coaching director.
So next year we'll have SSSs in: Columubs LA Dallas Then in '06 we'll have: Columbus LA Dallas Metros Chicago Then in '07/08 we'll have: Columbus LA Dallas Metros Chicago Colorado DC? Pretty damn good lads, pretty damn good.
Out of a completely depressing day, this announcement comes to lift spirits....Who would have thought Nick's two week time frame was actually accurate this time around? Harrison officials approve stadium deal with MetroStars http://www.sanluisobispo.com/mld/sanluisobispo/sports/9052152.htm
Another thing to remember is that the league's bottom line basically sinks or swims with the Metros and their 5mil+ annual losses at GS. The instant that Chicago and Metros move into their own facilities (and actually start turning annual losses into annual profits, see LA), MLS will be in the black for '06. They have been the two biggest losers for MLS in the past 6 years, and will now be its bigger winners, along with LA
According to the link above, its neither of the above. The town just approved to pass it along to the HCIA. HCIA still hasn't voted on it. Blech.
I don't mean to be the pessimist or anything, but until HCIA votes yes, the project is still not done by any means. If they say no, then that means no stadium. Also, 20,000 seats is a bit small for that market, don't you think?
Yes and I seriously doubt that when they show actual plans and make an announcement for groundbreaking that it will be less than 25K-28K..
This is the best thing to happen to the Metros, but I think it may come too late. We are losing fans at an alarming rate and attendence has been horrific.
