after missing the playoffs for the first time in a quarter century last season, the BLUES are starting to open the purse

offseason moves are coming one-a-day since the draft

-with the #1 pick in the draft, we snag erik johnson, big and skilled and nasty... the new pronger (who we couldn't quite afford)

-ryan johnson re-signs, 2 yr. for $1.6 million

-BLUES sale completed, john davidson named president

-we land D jay mckee (4 yr., $16M) as a free agent, re-sign captain dallas drake

-doug weight returns as a FA (3 yr., $7M)

-bill guerin joins up for 1 yr., $2M

expect more moves... maybe shanahan, maybe anson carter

I wish JD the best. Gonna miss Sam and JD together calling Ranger games. "Whoa, baby!"

Jay McKee, isn't worth anywhere close to that money.

Weight is past it and won't add much but more payroll

Guerin's days are behind him and now he has to feed off of Weight, too bad

Shanny, should of retired after he left Hartford

Anson Carter should be thanking Jesus himself for the numbers he had last
season...those numbers won't come to him again

St. Louis would of been at least two Cups deep if they were able to keep Hull in check and kept Adam and Curtis around a little while longer.

At least your name denotes the atmosphere for this season ahead, The Blues.

Compared to what other D-men are getting? Yes he is.

Nearly a point per game player is a pretty good second line center

We'll see. Guerin admits his conditioning was poor last year and has been working very hard this summer. When it comes to getting passes from Weight everyone scores more when they are with him.

Yup, he only scored 300+ goals of his 598 after he left Hartford.

The only intelligent comment in this post.

Hull was a whiner who would not play a team game until he got benched in Dallas...which wouldn't have flown in STL. Oates sealed his fate with his insecurity about money by demanding a third renegotiation of his contract and then demanding to be traded. Joeseph has won how many Cups? Sorry the Blues would not be "at least two Cups deep" had they kept those three.

The Blues will be in the playoff hunt the entire season and probably make the playoffs.

I thought I'd wait a week or two to see how the FA ink flowed and boy oh boy, I'd retract that playoff statement if I were you.

McKee still isn't worth more then a bag of pucks and a half eaten kirspy creme

About the playoffs, I guess we will discuss it come April. About McKee you seem to think you know more then the hockey experts with The Hockey News, CBC, etc.

Blues lose their season opener with San Jose in OT 5-4. They do get a point.
