Interview with Loris Karius who still remains clubless after his contract with Liverpool ended https://www.transfermarkt.de/karius...-nicht-der-klub-dabei-ldquo-/view/news/409111
Markus Schubert who's with Vitesse in the Eredivisie, has undergone knee surgery recently and is expected to be out for a while
FINALLY Goalkeeper has rejected a contract extension with the 05ers Offer made: Augsburg wants Mainz keeper Dahmen Rafal Gikiewicz still has a contract until 2023. Nevertheless, FC Augsburg is already looking for a new goalkeeper. As the kicker learned, Finn Dahmen from 1. FSV Mainz 05 should come to FCA. FC Augsburg is looking for a goalkeeper and now seems to have identified their ideal candidate. According to kicker information, Fuggerstadt want to sign Finn Dahmen from 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 24-year-old is number 2 in Rheinhessen. The zero-five, according to the club, are planning with Robin Zentner as number 1, which Dahmen has already been informed of. But the keeper wants and needs match practice, he has rejected an offer to extend his contract, which runs until 2023, and at the same time has deposited his desire to move to Augsburg, the interest is mutual. Because at FCA, Rafal Gikiewicz, whose working paper also expires in summer 2023, is not completely undisputed. Dahmen should replace him as the starting eleven goalkeeper and become part of the Fuggerstadt team in the long term – provided the change works out. FC Augsburg, who lost the Bundesliga opener 4-0 at home to Freiburg, are now getting serious and have made an initial offer. However, insiders from Mainz report that negotiations could drag on in August until the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Nevertheless: The two clubs are confident that the deal can be fixed. https://www.kicker.de/angebot-abgegeben-augsburg-will-mainz-keeper-dahmen-912568/artikel now we need Grill to become Union #1 and we could have 2 real 1BL GK breakthroughs from 98-99.
Why are Mainz being Assholes about this? Should have been loaned out last season nope. Chance for #1 elsewhere, nope. At Mainz 05 they don't want to know anything about an upcoming transfer from goalkeeper Finn Dahmen (24) to FC Augsburg. Sports director Christian Heidel told the 'Bild': "Finn didn't turn down any offers because he didn't get any. Augsburg got in touch with us, but there will be no move to FC Augsburg.”
Typical current day German/Buli club mentality to hoarding GK options and prospects. Stack up 2 or 3 young-ish players for the position. Have 1 as standby back up while the other one with the reserves. Keep them until they're like 24 or 25 until their contract expires or they get completely fed up and repeat
Lars Unnerstall at FC Twente have beaten Cukaricki 4-1 today and 7-2 overall in aggregate, and advance into the Conference League playoff round
Classic Buli club treatment of young GKs. Mainz aren't looking to let Dahmen go because they don't feel that they'd be able to "hire a back up": https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a366101127237395790-mainz-dahmen-aaron-sollen-bleiben
its more dumb as when Lasse Riess (3rd GK) signed his pro contract, they said they totally trusted him. Now showing that its all lies.
But but but... Mainz will lose more matches if Dahmen isn't the one sitting on the bench for ~95% of the games tho....
Timon Wellenreuther going on loan to Feyenoord where he's expected to be the back up GK to Justin Bijlow https://www.transfermarkt.de/fix-we...landsstation-fur-ex-schalker/view/news/409556 Welcome aboard, Timon! 🤝@Timonwellle = 🔴⚪⚫— Feyenoord Rotterdam (@Feyenoord) August 16, 2022

Someone in one of the German threads mentioned goalies doing blunders at a strange high rate this season sofar. It's Europe wide. This weekend we had our two contenders for the Orange spot blundering, luckily without conceding a goal, and last night the PSV goalie gave the Rangers the lead.
PSV may have stood a better chance with Unnerstall who at least has 2 clean sheets for Twente in Eredivisie play so far this season
Could just be a nothingburger since the place is mostly a major celebrity destination, but Loris Karius is linked with the club Como in the Italian Serie B https://sport.virgilio.it/como-non-solo-fabregas-suggestione-karius-769168

Is it me or does it seem that Manuel Neuer is making some mental mistakes, as if he is not fully concentrating at times. Specifically in his "sweeper keeper" style. Seems that he makes one or 2 bad passes or makes an error in judgment on when to leave his box.
I guess, it is what it is with Neuer. He's pretty much already won (almost) everything there is to win as a GK. He's revolutionized the position, but he is 36 now. Or he's just bored with these easy win score lines in Bundesliga as just being gutsy for the hell of it
According to reports, Man United are interested Kevin Trapp. Although a deal seems to still be far apart, Frankfurt have reportedly given the green light for negotiations https://www.transfermarkt.de/berich...t-grunes-licht-fur-gesprache/view/news/409922
Man U have offered Trapp an annual salary of up to 11 million euros https://www.transfermarkt.de/berich...-eintracht-erlaubt-gesprache/view/news/409922
Bayern want to sign Alexander Nuebel to a contact extension, his current one runs until 2025. However, what looks critical is what they plan to do with him until the summer of 2024 when Neuer's contract expires. Nuebel remains on loan currently at Monaco until the end of this season https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a...ayern-planen-vertragsverlaengerung-mit-nuebel
