Lionel Charbonnier (1998 World Champion with France) on Nubel at Monaco: He was regularly disappointed in the first half of the season by his defensive teammates who often failed defensively.

In France you are not used to this kind of German goalkeeper. I remember how years ago Andreas Koepke joined Olympique de Marseille and there were high hopes for him.

But then he had to adapt to the new environment first before he lived up to the hopes placed in it. The fact that Nubel is constantly compared to Neuer does not necessarily help him. But Alex is on the right track.

    on 98 GK Dahmen,
For Svensson it's a question of fairness: "Finn was European U-21 champion last summer, he puts his heart into it every day and shows his quality in training. So it goes without saying that he also plays." There is no doubt that this statement is justified, as teammate Stefan Bell confirms: "Finn is actually too good as number 2, totally stable in training. It's a shame for him that he's only allowed to play now." At the same time, the use of the talented reservist on the 33rd match day also corresponds to club political logic.

Mainz ideal solution: contract extension and loan
The fact that Dahmen does not want to spend another season on the bench has long been made sufficiently clear by the home-grown player. On Saturday he repeated: "It's important for me to play week after week. That's all I can say." In plain language: the talented keeper, whose current contract expires in the summer of 2023, is looking for a new employer. Those responsible in Mainz fully understand this in terms of the development of their professional.

Her wishful thinking: Dahmen would extend his contract with FSV and be loaned out to mature as number 1 at another club. First alternative: Dahmen is transferred and Mainz secures a buyback option at time x. The third option: Dahmen changes without any clauses - then it is up to Mainz to at least get the highest possible transfer fee.

No matter which scenario ultimately occurs - putting Dahmen in the proverbial "shop window" is in the interests of everyone involved. It cannot be ruled out that the youngster will be able to give his presumed farewell performance in front of a home crowd at the season finale against Frankfurt next Saturday. "I hope to be able to play again in the next game," explains Dahmen, "but I'm not looking for a conversation. I have to convince with my performance."

He did that in Berlin with a flawless performance: "He was stable, intercepted crosses, was good in the build-up game and came out well once to head the ball away," praised Bell. "Unfortunately for him, he didn't get that many balls to excel." Being part of a stable defense network is not the worst recommendation for a goalkeeper.

most 1BL clubs waste irrelevant matches instead of using them to as they say "shop window"......stupid.

Schalke clearly need a new #!, hope it ends up between Dahmen, Fruchtl and Mantl

more reasons why Germany making 0 progress in GKs breakingrhrough.

    on 98 GK Raab,
Hamburger SV is apparently bringing a new goalkeeper on board. As reported by 'Sky', Matheo Raab is moving from 1. FC Kaiserslautern to the Rothosen. As the 23-year-old's contract expires, no fee will be charged.

Raab was a regular at FCK in the past third division season and made a significant contribution to promotion with 18 clean sheets. In Hamburg he is provisionally planned as number two behind Daniel Heuer Fernandes (29).

    Hasan Salihamidžić tells @SPORTBILD
the club is planning to extend Nübel's contract beyond 2025: "Bayern are planning with Alexander Nübel on the long term, because we believe in his quality and we want to secure the goalkeeping position in the future"

Alex played a very good season in Monaco and kept 11 clean sheets. It's also thanks to him that Monaco have secured a spot in the Champions League"

"We can very well imagine extending his contract. We'll speak to Alex and his agent and find the best solution for him and for the club. We're happy that Manuel Neuer extended until 2024 and we're very happy with Alex's development. We hope and think he'll confirm"

looks like 98-99 finally making progress
-Dahmen, Schubert and Grill with 1BL exp.
-Menzel,Moser=with 1st abroad exp aka Belgian and Austria
-Smarsch, Stahl, Raab, Hoffmann (maybe him too) in 2BL, all looks like 4/4 for bench GK over XI
    -Benda with Championship exp

but so far no XI GK in any top 5 leagues
and Nubel and F.Muller still our last breakthroughs for GKs.
