Looks like Monaco have Volland at the LW position. Started in both their matches so far but remains scoreless.

I tend to find Volland much more effective in middle than W.

2BL clubs are becoming VERY difficult for transfers this Summer. Most of them are failing due to 2BL clubs jacking prices while 1BL clubs want to pay the least possible.

Hack, Maina, Serra, Kruger, Hofmann etc all had deals issues.

I would not be surprised if Serra/Kruger already have clubs lined up and are waiting to be free transfers. Clubs wait 1 year and the players are free.....

Nürnberg and Hannover look to be the most formidable that they've been in years in terms of squad depth so they're likely trying to make the push for promotion.

Aue and Kiel aren't as close though. So yeah very likely Krüger and Serra leave on free transfers, or if the clubs realize it the last chance to get something out of them is at the winter.

On topic of 2BL and fwiw, here are some Marvin Ducksch highlights. He was also their Player of the season from last campaign.

Ducksch 2/2 2BL season looks good but flopped in 1BL. Does make you wonder if 2BL is his level?

maybe when older he would do better in his 2nd 1BL try. We see a lot of older CFs who are career 2BL do well in 1BL.

he also looks to function better with H96 than he did with Fortuna.

very classical CF goals but yeah let's hope he stays fit. I do like him and would be nice if he can score double digits this season shouldn't be too hard after today. If it wasn't for injuries over past 2 seasons would have had 3 consecutive double digit season in 1BL and this season could be 4th.

in other news, Kleindienst scores his 1st league goal and 2nd for his Belgian club.

Kevin Volland with 2 assists in Monaco's 3-2 win vs Strasbourg, including setting up the winning goal. Third match day in Ligue 1 so far, hope to see him score soon.

Philipp Hofmann was briefly linked with HSV as well but the negotiations fell apart after the clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee. Karlsruher later said that Hofmann will definitely be staying with them.

Couple of the oldies still kicking it, Stindl with a goal today and Kruse yesterday.

While in 2BL, among the Hannover contingent Weydandt scored and Ducksch had a pair of assists in their Derby win vs Braunschweig today.

Wouldn't be surprised if Waldschmidt gets benched and loses his starting spot. Second match in a row scoreless and Seferovic subs on the bag a brace as Benfica win.

While Volland is still scoreless at Monaco

Yeah for someone his stage and coming from a fringe 2BL, playing a title contender in Denmark and also CL will be a better career perspective and opportunity. Still needs to work his way into a starting spot and being productive at a new competition level though so I'll keep expectations grounded for now.

I would not get my hopes up too high, because Midtjylland is from a tiny town with little sponsorships, so instead they have made it their priority to make a profit by signing loads of players who have done exceptionally well according to their Moneyball system, but then are send on loan to other clubs, to be a success at a lower level, but never to actually getting to play for them. At the moment they have 15 players out on loan, but also some players in their squad (of 31 players) who are for sale and was never really part of a plan to actually play for them, except for a few Cup games here and there.

Yep, business is business. Tbh not too much was expected of this guy. Mostly an unknown until he had a decent season for a 3rd division German club last season. If he's able to do something meaningful somewhere that's great, otherwise not a big deal.

Well, Midtjylland will evaluate his level, and then either make use of him themselves or find a good place for him, where they can send him on loan until he is sold. Their quickest buy-and-sell so far was actually Dominick Drexler who they signed from Holstein Kiel on 1. July 2018 for €2.5 million and then sold 20 days later on 20. July to 1. FC Köln for €4.5 million, so they are very good at this.

Lol Lennart Thy scores from a penalty again for Sparta Rotterdam as they draw 1-1 vs Feyenoord in the city derby. His second goal of the season, both from penalties.
