If Selke puts up 10+ goals within the Bundesliga, and is able to outscore Wagner, Gomez, and Uth then I would give him a solid chance.
Selke given the top match rating: http://www.90min.de/posts/5756798-m...ten-el-sieg-die-einzelkritik/4-st-davie-selke The matchwinner did what one would expect from a center forward - scoring goals. The 1-0 he needed after a nice cross from Mittelstädt on the second post just from a nod. On his second goal he skipped past the keeper skillfully and pushed to the decision. "Mister Europa League" has now scored all the goals for Hertha in this competition with three goals in two games. If you are looking for points of criticism in his performance this evening, then you could complain that the 22-year-old had problems to tie up the balls in front. Selke is coming back after a long injury but according to his own statement only at "90 percent". Grade: 1.5
Looks like the season is over for Freiburg's Florian Niederlechner with a knee injury. Maybe a chance for Tim Kleindienst or Christoph Daferner to step up. http://www.90min.de/posts/5757485-kniescheibe-gebrochen-saisonaus-fuer-florian-niederlechner
I'm not a huge fan of his, still he's a solid player. But that sucks even more so since it seems to have happened in training. Seems now like Petersen could start games and those 2 you mentioned could get their chances.
Daniel Ginczek has no interest in being Lewandowski's back up at Bayern Munich, as he does not want to be a bench players that rarely plays. https://www.liga-report.de/bundesliga/fc-bayern-muenchen/ginczek-lehnt-rolle-als-lewandowski-backup-ab/
Ginczek scores on a penalty for his 3rd goal in 3 consecutive matches from all competitions this season.
If Selke and Ginczek continue to keep it up they both look like options for 2020. Along with Uth. As the three of them enter their career primes. So it'll be between them to join Werner and Stindl. While Gomez will be phased out and Wagner gets older. I wonder when is the earliest that Arp will be realistically associated with the senior NT. I'm guessing around 2022, at that time he'll be 22 y/o.
Wagner needs to start producing in the league, same with Gomez. Gomez had an assist the last game, while Wagner has had neither goal nor assist in the last 3 games. It's like if you had to rank them, it looks bad when Arp is getting ahead of them. 1-Wagner, 2 goals and 2 assists in 8 games 2-Arp, 2 goals in 3 games 3-Gomez, 0 goals and 1 assist in 5 games (although he got injured in game #3 and game #4 he was only a sub who just returned from being injured)
Regarding Gomez's situation right now, I'm kinda iffy about Martin Schmidt the coach at Wolfsburg. Since taking over, the team has tied in 6 straight games and currently only sit 14th in the table despite having one of the higher budgets among the mid-sized teams in the league. This is also the coach who was sacked by Mainz before. At some point, Wolfsburg should pick things up. But right now they're severely underachieving as a team and not playing effective football. Something seems really off.
Schmidt is one of those cases where a coach got fired because the team was playing very badly but gets hired in the next season anyways. Never understood that, makes sense if the coach is good or has potential and hit a snag. I don't think he fits that. His Mainz team from last season hovered above relegation just like this season with Wolf. This season he's the king of draws and last second equalizers. Yeah not convincing coach at all. Watched a few of their games and they aren't that good attacking wise. Well I hope all goes well for Gomez with the new coach and his play style. Although he was unlucky not to score that PK last game, could have been good for his confidence. Tomorrow we are getting Gomez vs Selke and Zoller vs Wagner!!!
Wolfsburg has a lot of players, but they need to figure out the right combination. Right now they're all over the place. I think only Didavi and Uduokhai played consistently well for them this season.
Marvin Ducksch is now up to 10 league goals on the season. Plus another one in the Pokal for 11 total. 927161963230236672 is not a valid tweet id
Ducksch also assisted on their second goal. Which puts him at 10 goals and 3 assists in 13 match days on the season. Holstein Kiel's win gives them 29 points and in close second place behind Fortuna Dusseldorf (30 points) who drew today.
Mark Uth draws a penalty, which is then converted by Sandro Wagner. His third BL goal of the season. 2-0 lead for Hoffenheim vs Köln.
finally Gomez scores!!!! makes the game go from being 1-0 behind to a 2-1 lead with his goal. 1st goal of the season but should have been his 3rd by now.
Selke makes the game 3-3 with his 1st league goal of the season as well as his 1st league goal for Hertha.
Would prefer Selke being their full starter for these matches, but encouraging to see him productive and scoring on a regular basis when given the chance. Hope Gomez works on being more clinical but getting his first of the season is important. This result also means Wolfsburg's 7th draw in a row.
Agreed about Selke, outside of his 20s goal Ibesivic was anonymous. Gomez was actually good in the match outside of his missed PK. Was hassle to defenders and the keeper, constantly putting them under pressure. Did a great job at build up and link up play with his teammates. More than once seemed content with helping out even in defense and allowing others to get into better position to score than him. Even when it came to things like dribbling and outmaneuvering his mark, he did those well. Still 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 2 games. Although sucks that he could have won both games if he had scored those 2 PK. yeah Schmidt king of draws confirmed, lol.
Update on Marvin Ducksch. Latest report mentions that it's going to be difficult for Holstein Kiel to hold onto him after this season. St. Pauli still have the right of return after his loan is over. There's also interest from Bundesliga clubs following his progress now. With his current contract with St. Pauli expiring in 2019, he might be sold next summer as it would be the last major point to generate a substantial transfer fee. https://www.liga-zwei.de/holstein-kiel-bleibt-das-erfolgsteam-zusammen/
