Great signing for Frankfurt since Burkardt is very injury prone and their other foreign strikers are average. Hopefully he takes no time to settle in BL and why not Nagelsmann can call him up in March. I know we already have many strikers available but so far Woltemade and Undav are the only fit ones ( Schade could be called up as a winger). Another thing I am glad he chose Frankfurt over Wolfsburg because I don't want him to block Pejcinovic.
I think Fall 2026 call up depending on how he does might be more realistic, feels unlikely for March-June call ups.
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/scout-says-woltemade-isn-t-145000964.html Former Newcastle United scout Paul Montgomery has said Nick Woltemade is not the ‘DNA of a Newcastle number nine’. Woltemade signed for Newcastle from Stuttgart in the summer in a club-record £69m deal. The German arrived as a replacement for Alexander Isak, having scored 17 goals for Stuttgart in all competitions last season, before winning the Golden Boot at the u-21 European Championship in the summer. Woltemade has scored just seven goals in the Premier League this season and has faded following a bright start at St James’ Park. He has failed to score in the league in his last seven appearances, last netting with a double against Chelsea on December 20th. Montgomery, who first saw Woltemade at u-19 level, has said the 23-year-old is better suited to a deeper role. He questioned whether Woltemade or fellow signing Yoane Wissa are the right player to be Newcastle’s chief goal threat. “In my head, he’s never been a number nine,” Mongomery told BBC Sport. “I remember eye-balling him when he was a young player for the Germany under-19s and he was an offensive midfield player. He’s not the DNA of a Newcastle number nine. That has been the main kind of position at a Newcastle United scenario, going through Shearer, Macdonald, Ferdinand, Cole. It’s always been the number nine. What I was trying to say is neither Woltemade or (Yoane) Wissa are a DNA Newcastle number nine.”
He also made an assist. His 6th goal in PL. Not sure if he can still have any chance with Germany but he is having a very good season above expectations.
I'm not sure he is NT level, but we do often see late bloomers in that position. If he can get double figures this season that's a good start. Main thing is, like with Fullkrug, that he actually stays healthy for a long period.
He had very good match yesterday besides the goal he scored. He is currently on a very good form that I think Nagelsmann will find it hard to ignore for March at least.
I was sad not seeing him in the scoring list today but now I see he has 2 assists. He is in beast mode this season. Hope he stays injury free.
If you take away penalty goals from Kanes total, they have about the same goals per 90. And Kane gets to play with Bayern, which undoubtedly helps his total. Arguably Undav could be the best striker in the BL.
