I clicked on an ad later today and it tried to install some malicious software on my computer, luckily, my firewall was able to spot and destroy it, but I can see how many people can be affected by it. Does bigsoccer promote spyware/adware? It was the ad promoting a video of Tara Conner, it promised me I would be able to see everything, but I couldn't see anything! I don't know if I'm more upset at the fact I didn't see the video or the spyware deal. Either way, if any of you have the video, please PM it to me. Thanks in advance.
I was just trying to post a reply to a thread in the Chelsea forum when my window closed and I got a popup pretending to be Windows trying to get me to install some anti-tracking software. I didn't install it, but I could see some people being fooled pretty easily. This is a big problem, Huss. This and the ads that make sound. Kill them.
I'm getting this as well - faux IE pop-ups are driving my Norton Antivirus insane. I'm on Windows XP, and using Firefox.
This is a major problem. I'm at work, and it got caught. If I'm at home using my older laptop, I could have problems that would make me not want to come back here.
No problems on OSX but I just tried it in Windows and my antivirus program went nuts when I clicked reply to a thread. You may want to uh, fix this. Soon. Does anyone screen these adds at all before they're coded into the site or what?
I agree - we are trying to track down the culprit. We have put a little code letter next to each ad. If you catch it, report the letter here. This is unacceptable.
On the top Who is this actress/Pink Razor - c I Graduated in - c Adventure Quest - v On the left Warning - This is really, really, freaky!! - r BigSoccer/Best place to buy soccer geat - v
I missunderstood. I thought you were saying to let you know the adds with the letter (kind of a confirmation). I have had no problems (I use firefox at work and IE 6.0 at home).
I'd offer to check it out tomorrow, Huss (no problems here on home since I'm on a Mac), but I really can't afford to get caught at work, sorry.
Is this why my computer has been freaking out in the past couple days about unauthorized Active-X controls? I've been getting that little information bar that slides down from the top of your screen saying something is blocked. Anyway, thanks for staying on top of things!
While reading BigSoccer, my browser re-directed me to the followng site: http://www.rootv.com/?channel=USA+news&fmute=true&bitrate=56 No popup, no new window....it simply went to this new site as if I had clicked on something (although I am virtually certain I did not). Not sure if it's the same thing as the spyware thing, but this was happening to me quite a lot over the past 72 hours just as Norton has been going off. The DICE advertisement was at the top of the BS page (can't tell if it's an "n" or an "r" to the lower left of the advert), and the McDonald's advertisement talking about their great work environment was on the left of the page (with no identifying letter that I can tell.) This redirection thing is even more annoying than the audio "popups".
I did yesterday after another BS redirect. Ad-Aware cleaned up some stuff. I'll run it again. Norton's real time virus scan alarm was triggered while I was on BigSoccer and something was put into quarantine. I ran a full system virus scan and it came up with nothing besides the quarantined item. As you can probably tell, I don't understand a good bit of all this stuff. If there's any add'l info I can give that would help, I'd be happy to.
The same has happened to me several times. I'm on an iMac, OS 10.3.9 with Firefox (popups blocked). I've also had the spyware scam pop up as well. All of this has happened over the last two days. The ads on the bigsoccer.com seem to be from even more questionable sources than ever.
Me too and it keeps resizing my browser window to maximum. It's a pain in the balls to keep resizing. How much can those Rootv ads be worth anyway?
As you can see we are aggressively hunting down the culprit. When possible, please report the letter next to the ad.
I had this yesterday. No new window but it redirected me offsite and a popup came up (it was something about installing 'drive clean' I think but I shut it down too quickly to take details). This was the second time and I've scanned for spyware between the first and second (nothing of interest found). On this occasion yesterday, the horizontal ad showed no graphic (letter m) and the vertical ad was O2 (letter v). Just looking through 'new posts' if that makes any difference.
Just an FYI, Riz's work computer got totally ********ed over by whatever spyware was linked in these adds. Just by simply clicking an add (not installing anything) her computer now opens 5 IE windows with rotating adds in them whenever she opens IE, so she has to get an IT person there to reinstall windows. AdAware and various antivirus programs seem to not be able to permanently remove whatever this crap was.
Every ad service has confirmed 3x over that no adware is being served. That being said, we have been screaming and have removed any potential infringers.
I haven't had a problem with spyware in the ads by themselves on bigsoccer, but once I click on some of them it goes totally bananas. Their websites are fully loaded with spyware.
i get redirected to a "drivecleaner" site? and all those times is when the page has no advert at the top strange
