If you want to forget this past Wednesday, sure... I'm not forgetting this past Wednesday that easily.
There can still be 5 in the CL, like this season. Arsenal (6th) win Europa Chelsea (5th) win CL Spurs come 4th. Both Arsenal and Chelsea get Spurs' CL place. #spursy
What is it about away games, slow starts and conceding sloppy goals? Credit the manager for thinking on his feet and reorganizing the attack after Kane went off. Also for the late sub (with the score still 2-1) of Trippier for Rose and moving Aurier to LB. Whether Rose was injured or not, he had yet another shocker, Smith did him like a kipper for the first goal. It really does look like Man U have turned his head, but if he plays like that under Mourinho, he is going to be in for a rude awakening. Dele was at his impish best, scoring one, and setting up another and, most importantly, schooling the Bournemouth crowd.
Not forgetting anything, unless it's involuntary, with my ageing brain. My point was that the end result was a fine reaction to being in an adverse position. The kind of thing that others seem to think we innately incapable of. But I'm not going to mope, for the rest of the season, about a first loss in more than 2 months and being eliminated by the CL finalist from 2 of the last 3 years.
well ppl were saying Spurs "bottled it" last season when they lost that one match at west ham. the one non-win of their last 13 PL matches. yep, that's bottling it all right
I was wondering if anybody has come up with the Aurier Ratio, which is something like 15:1. As in 15 poor crosses to every 1 good cross.
Song comes from forgotten early-70's power-pop phenoms Pilot. Actually it's very clever to fit Poch's name with all those syllables into a song line. And yes, I'm old enough to remember it first time round. That'll be in your head all day now. You're welcome.
You have to put the season into perspective. We have beaten Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund (twice), Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and drawn at Real Madrid, Liverpool and Juventus (and we are the only team that has scored on Juventus in their last 21 games). Most of the past 30 years, we could only dream about playing teams like that on a regular basis. Last year we couldn't beat Leverkusen and Gent.
What is that old saying? Even a broken clock tells the right time twice a day... Seriously, I think Aurier is going to need time to bed into the PL. The potential is definitely there, we just have to be patient, and we have the right manager to bring the best out of him. Remember, nobody was talking about buying Walker and Rose in their early years at the club, and look how they turned out.
To me, I don't think it is that bad. He walked off, slight limp, prepared to return, then was called away at the last moment. Seems to be more precautionary, specially since he has roughly a 3 week break.
Late April apparently, though Kane does have a tendency to heal faster than projections. Sadly looks like he’ll miss the Chelsea game.
stolen from Wednesday, actually. they used to sing it about their Portuguese d-mid Jose Semedo. he's magic you knooooow you'll never get past Semedooooo I have very hazy memories of singing it (loudly) with a dozen or so Wednesdayites as we stumbled through downtown Wakefield late one Saturday night. good times.
Latest on Kane was that the swelling was too big to take his scan today, so still no news. It does look the same as the one against Millwall where he also walked off the pitch. If that is anything to go by, he missed 3 games.
Kane to be back in training in April no word on whether that's early or late April. guessing that means the Chelsea match is a miss.
Too bad there is not a Rent-A-Manager option in the PL. We could borrow Mourinho for the match at Stamford Bridge and get a boring, bus-parking 0-0 (which would also be a great result for them). Or leave Poch in the dugout with a Sam Allardyce style headpiece and have Mourinho hide in the laundry bin with the tactical instructions like he did in the CL all those years ago.
