Robbie bags a brace and Stevie Carr is back (With a trademark rocket shot just tipped over) both last the full 90 minutes. With Finnan playing for Fulham and showing no signs of injurys, it's all good for the full back positions with Carr on the right and for the love of god please lets have Finnan on the left.
Well that's always a worry, but this is his first full 90 competitive minutes since the injury, and he's played a few reserve matches so far. Since the hamstring problem he picked up Hoddles really gentley brought him back as slowly as possible, I would say if we rushed them he would have been fit for the Swiss match, but it wasn't worth the risk.
I was at the game yesterday and was really pleased with both the Irish lads games . Carr was excellent and nearly scored from a half volley. He looked fit and sharp and played some wonderful passes down the wing ...especially in the second half. Keane ....The fans love him . Yesterday he looked full of confidence extremely fit , sharp and lively ...everything you want in a striker . His finishing was top class too. Great Day If only we had Freund in midfield and Teddy to partner Keane upfront
no , he was on the bench and with the return of some other big names ....Carr Ledley King and Poyet , he is going to find it increasingly difficult to get a regular start.
i read some quotes from spurs fans on other sites and they seem to think that he's lost a lot of his pre-leg-break pace. he's been struggling against the quicker forwards e.g. when he commited 2 fouls against man utd in the space of 30 seconds, he got away with one but gave away a penalty on the second which cost them the game. for the record, i thought he had an excellent game - bar those above mentioned fouls. it looks like he's dropped in status from a fringe first team player to a squad player in the space of a few weeks. unfortunately.
He obviously plays centre half at Spurs then, surely he should be considered here for the Irish team now. What about O'Brien at Newcastle, I've never seen him play so know very little about him except what I've heard from a couple of mates (one thinks he's brilliant and a big prospect for the future, the other says he's sh1te and responsible for many of Newcastle's problems at the back!)
He's both, given his unbeliveble pace for a big man, great tackling and good ability in the air he is a prospect for the future, but his inexpereince shows alot so is prone to some stupid mistakes which he will iron out. Could really do with a great defender beside him, with experience helping him through and god knows that man isn't Dabizas.
