FYI, Spurs will be in Washington to face DC United on May 14th. http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=main&cont_id=173073 http://www.spurs.co.uk/article.asp?article=139794
Any guesses on who will win? United by 2? Any chance you guys can get Brad Friedel to attend this game? Would love to have him give Kasey some pointers from the world's best keeper! Looking forward to this exhibition game! IntheNet
I'm goin with Spurs 2-1. I would guess that Spurs will not bring their entire first team, and include some youngsters. I imagine that players like Keane, Davies, Acimovic, Bunj. and Ziege won't be playing, and will be resting for summer national team commitments/recoupment from injury.
Yay! Thank God for the Klinsmann connection. This time it'll be the proper Spurs team (although I'm sure we'll blood some youngsters) and not the golden oldies like at the WHL match. Scorewise its a tough one to call. Simply because I think US teams feel they have something to prove because of European attitudes towards their game. 2-1 or 1-2.
Quick question, any word on if they will be using their First Team (Kean, Sheringham, etc.) or if it's going to be who ever wants to make the trip over. And if Ziege will be coming over or if he's just going to pack it in for trhe year and rehab over the summer. Thanks
From what I hear, Spurs are committed to fielding a "first-squad" team. I am sure there will be plenty of "blooding" and a few supposed injuries, but I expect they will field a quality side. I'm going to be there, so it will be my first live Spurs match. I'll have on my DC jersey and my Spurs shorts and be cheering for everyone, so I hope the score is 8-8 with Hirschfield giving up 6 or 7 in the second half. Of course, with the way DC is playing, I am more expecting a 0-0 match. They have ended regulation of all four matches tied, and being that MLS is completely gay and can't end a game after 90 minutes if it is tied, they only lost one of those in overtime.
Just an FYI, if you are coming here, DC United and MLS are having a weeklong charity collection drive for Iraqi kids, they are collecting jerseys, balls, and other equipment, so do bring something!
just saw this on the DC site As a manager, Hoddle heads a side that will send their first team to the match, including a bevy of internationally known players the likes of striker Robbie Keane (Ireland), Uruguayan midfielder Gustavo Poyet and United States goalkeeper Kasey Keller. Other players currently scheduled to travel include: Neil Sullivan, Goran Bunjevcevic, Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty, Anthony Gardner, Ledley King, Chris Perry, Lee Barnard, Mauricio Taricco, Darren Anderton, Simon Davies, Jamie Redknapp, Kazuyuki Toda, Milenko Acimovic, Steffen Freund, Teddy Sheringham and Christian Ziege.
Good call 'fellas! DC United 1 Tottenham 0 I believe that's twice that we have beaten you now. What's going on?
DC United fans were yellin' like they won the bloody FA Cup or the Champions League or something..it was a crappy goal..get over it
Get over your tenth place finish and your crappy defense. A meaningless game for sure, but you would think all of these first team Spurs players would want to score in one of the two matches they've play DCU.
both teams were pretty crappy, so I don't see why anyone would have reason to gloat and that goal was just full of skill and grace.....

SPOKEN LIKE A DC UNITED FAN..CLASSLESS. this is coming from fans of a team who plays in the worst league in on the planet. I'd sooner get behind Sheffield Wednesday before i root for an MLS club
You aren't doing much to carry on the good name of spurs, either. I am having trouble getting over our crappy defense and our crappy tenth place finish, personally. MLS is a competitive league, and far from worst on the planet. Those words are also coming from fans of the team that won the eastern hemispheric championship, beating Vasco de Gama over two legs in the championship. And if you want to root for Wednesday, that's your own problem.
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Sorry about TottenhamHotspursFan. He's hurting. Like I am. I'm from London and I really enjoy the MLS. The US Nats got to the WC Quarters with players (mostly) from the MLS, so it's not as bad as people make out. The supposed 'weakness' (the salary cap that prevents signings of better players) is probably the reason why it's still going. It's the chicken and egg situation. Although DC weren't very good. At least they scored a goal, albeit from the boot of a Spurs player. Was Teddy's disallowed goal really offside? I wish I could've been there, rather than watching the mlsnet live updates. It's like watching Ceefax. Maybe we'll play you again next year and spank your arses! (But I'm not holding my breath......)
