On Saturday, March 29 Oakland University will be hosting University of Detroit-Mercy, followed by the Michigan Wolverines against NAIA powerhouse Lindsey Wilson College. The next week the Bucks will host the College Cup between Indiana, Michigan, Oakland and Michigan State on Saturday, April 5. These games will be played at the Bucks new home, Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, MI.

Butler Spring Schedule Indianapolis, Ind. - Matches against Louisville and Ohio State highlight a nine-match schedule for the Butler men's soccer team's 2008 spring season, which was announced on Tuesday (Feb. 5). Six matches will take place in Indianapolis, including three on the Butler campus. The Bulldogs kick off the season by hosting the Erin Mills Soccer Club on March 5 at the Butler Bowl before taking on cross-town rivals Indianapolis and IUPUI on March 20. Butler then heads to Louisville on March 28 for a match-up with the Cardinals, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last fall. After hosting both IUPUI and Indiana Wesleyan on April 5, the Bulldogs head to the IPFW Showcase in Fort Wayne, Ind., on April 11. The season ends on April 19 when the Bulldogs take on Ohio State, which advanced to the Men's College Cup National Championship in 2007, at Warren Central High School. Butler closed out the 2007 season with a 9-7-4 record and a trip to the Horizon League Championship semifinals.

NIU is scheduled to play Loyola at NIU in the Dekalb fieldhouse on Feb 23 as part of a coaches clinic. However, it remains to be seen if it will in fact happen in light of the recent tragedy at Northern Illinois. I would like to see them play, I think it would help to begin the long healing process at NIU. That said, I wish all on the NIU campus peace of mind and quick healing. Thoughts and prayers go out to all, especially the families that have lost loved ones.
I came close to crying and I know some did when the UVA women's team made an originally unscheduled trip to Blacksburg to make up for an exhibition Tech had lost because of the tragedy on campus. I think the women wore "'Hoos for Hokies" shirts which was another nice touch. I hope NIU is able to return to some type of normalcy. I know it's hard to try and return to normal life and nothing is more annoying than the media presence(they've even returned to Blacksburg because of NIU). My thoughts and prayers go out to all.
