I was at my buddy's condo downtown and I spotted Julian DeGuzman walking out of the same complex. I won't mention which condo and where (the guy deserves some privacy!) but I'm a 110% sure it was him. It might be absolutely nothing. He could just be back home for the off season or maybe... Well, I'll leave it up to you all to decide.
Can an everton fan ever be trusted ??? LOL If it was him hopefully you asked him why his brother is such a judas !!!
Could it be that he's visiting family while he has a chance and getting ready to hook up with the CMNT in prep for the Gold Cup?
I saw him last week driving his hummer on the 401 at 8:15AM (why would he be up so early), so it probably was him that you saw.
I'm sure this is going to add fuel to the JDG-to-TFC rumours, but seeing as Toronto is his home town and all, it's not terribly surprising to see him there during the offseason
he is likely back for rest and seeing some family and then prep for the Gold Cup. any other reason could be bonus for TFC fans!!
Nope listen to shep messing he's got 15 days to sign a DP deal with TFC . You got him boy's. Now this is whats going to bring you to the finals ali gerba can sit on the bench an o ya sorry guys but ali gerba is a bust . Good luck guys.
If DeGuzman signs with TFC what will happen to either Robinson or Cronin? Doesn't JDG play holding Mid?
According to Wiki he is indeed a holding mid, though I've seen him play a more attacking position with CMNT. Maybe he can play wide as well?
Simple, trade Robinson for Donovan Because I believe he and Mr. Beckham will not be on the same pitch as each other. LOL!
If he gets signed, the best thing to do would be move DeRo up to Forward with Gerba and sit Barrett and Vitti.
still not the easy, as we STILL don't have a winger/wide player. But that would be a 3-5-2 possibility, or 5-3-2, however you cut it.
TFC submits an offer for DeGuzman superior to the European offers. http://www.marca.com/2009/07/04/futbol/equipos/deportivo/1246721046.html
Julian De Guzmán would be a great DP for Toronto FC. This would make headlines in Canada and with lots of Canadian International players playing for TFC this would help Canada for 2014 having a good bunch of they boys playing together. TFC with De Guzman would be one unstoppable team in MLS... I hope this happens
I hope Toronto gets him. He is a very good player. Rumors has it that Hamberg and Espanyol want his services as well, but Toronto are offering a better contract.
He'd be the biggest signing in MLS history outside of the league bring Landon Donovan back from Germany. Beckham and Blanco were to be quite honest all about marketing. JDG would be coming back in his peak years after being a star in arguably the best league in the World (I still think top to bottom the English Premiership is the best, but opinions vary).
Hope this happens for you guys... not like it'll put more butts in the stands, but De Guzman is the type of DP MLS needs. Still in his prime and will definitely put you on equal or better footing with DC, Chicago C-bus in the East this season.
Right now the main issue for JDG is the quality of soccer that he wants to play. Let's face it Europe would provide a much higher quality. Apart from league play, which competitions would he want to play in: a) - Nutrilite Canadian Championship - CONCACAF Champions League - SuperLiga OR b) - UEFA Champions League or - UEFA Europa .... whatever it's called now I really hope he does sign on though with TFC b/c this may very well open the gates for more quality players coming to the league. I really don't want him following other 30-35 yr old players leads and come play in MLS at the end of his career. I wonder if those ther interested teams will up the ante now that they know about Mo's offer. So much for Mo keeping this completely classified.
If the rumours are true (and every indication seems to be pointing that way) it would be more likely that JDG's agent would be the one broadcasting the offer in order to solicit higher bids from other teams.
I would love it if DeGuzman signed with us as a DP, but I would be very surprised if he did. There's a video on youtube from 2008 where he says he would love to finish his career with TFC, but this is only after playing another 7-8 years in Europe. I know things can change, but I'm not holding my breath for an upcoming signing.
I'm not either, but 7-8 years? I imagine Robbo the Rabbit would be getting pretty slow on the draw by then, if not catatonic--motor activity approaching zero. (Hell, that happens even now some nights.) So yeah, we'd need to make a change by then for sure. Ok, memo: call Julian's agent in 2016.
