Does your club have a sportsmanship award? If so what is it based on? How are points accumulated among the coaches and teams?

It didn't before. But your post has inspired me. In hindsight we should have had one long ago.

We have one. After each game the coach, or manager, ranks the other team's players, coaches, and fans on a scale of 0-5, with 5 being the highest.

At first everybody could see the scores from their own games. In our division this one team was giving everybody 0s to, basically, insure they'd be the winners. I didn't think I'd care much about the scoring, but that crap pissed me off. So, they had to start hide the scoring. In other words, it became a mess.

I'm not even sure what the prize was at the end of the season; which will give you good idea of how well we fared in that contest.

In another league we played in we sent in the scores and ranked the other team in sportsmanship. The ranking and comments were available to be seen by everybody. I think people kept their comment and rankings more civil because they knew everybody saw it. Not that it didn't rankle some feathers from time to time, but it was mostly peaceful.

Our state run tournaments have sportsmanship awards (state cup, fall TOC for leagues, presidents cup etc. ) The referees fill in the numbers 1-5. We are told to start at 3, go up/down as appropriate and figure in players, coaches and fans.
