The late SportsCenter on Thursday night included Testo's long-range empty-net goal from Wednesday's game in the "SportsCenter Top Ten" near the end of the show. It was #2 on the list.
What he said. I missed SportsCenter last night, had to work on a news/sports endeavor of my own over here.
Is that now three days in a row soccer has made the SportsCenter Top Ten?! Tuesday's show featured the post-goal gymnastics routine of young Martins of AC Milan. Wednesday, we had two goals--Del Piero for Juventus and Twellman for the Revs. And now Thursday's episode ranks Testo's empty net shot at number two. Not bad for midweek action...
just saw it, had not seen this thread and lucked upon it...pretty funny. nice to see it make the top 10.
You realize of course this is part of ESPN's (and the Illuminatti's) conspiracy against soccer. They show the goals so Sportscenter watching Americans will immediatly call up ESPN and say "What, soccer again! Stop showing that boring commie sport!"
yeah, its like every time i watch the top ten they stick a goal in there now... although usually not the best, like they showed kirvski's against venzeula rater than donovans
CNN had it as their Sports "Play of the Day" as well. The regular news anchors seemed to enjoy it as well.
cmon...it wasn't even 70 yards on the FLY. it bounced like 2, 3, times before it went into the net it was really funny seeing that mexican player chase after the ball. he really did kick the "crap" out of it. not a bad way to score a goal.
Not much notice - but they're going to be showing the goal today during halftime of the US - England women's team game on ESPN
Much obliged halfnorsk. I read your post and realized I'd totally forgotten about this match. They showed the clip literally seconds after I turned on ESPN. The Mexican player sliding into the netting after the ball was a nice touch. JP said some estimated the goal went for 80 yards, rather than 70, incidentally.
In a couple of weeks, it will be 100 yards and there will have been 500,000 people at the game who saw it. Seriously, someone's gotta get it for download. I missed it both times.
The initial press reports said 70 meters, so 80 yards is a reasonable approximation. FWIW, I saw the goals from the game on reforma.com, but the download (poor quality) no longer seems to be available. On the game-winner, Mapp's set-up work was very nice. The Fire need to get that kid some playing time.
Just saw the 70-or so yard goal for the first time a few minutes ago. The replay will be on again at 1:30 EST for those that missed the goal.
