I think that this year could very well be the first year we see an MLS uniform on the cover of SI. Looking at schedules the NBA is winding down it's regular season the week that Adu will debut, the NHL is on their final weekend of action, and MLB is into it's first month of operation.

Hopefully if Adu does make the cover they won't slight MLS by having Adu wear a Nats uniform.

Unfortunately, the NCAA Final Four is the same weekend as the MLS opener. He will be facing a lot of competition for the SI cover the week before and after. He may not appear on the cover that weekend. Maybe at some point during the season.

I think when Adu is put on the SI cover, it will be in the new USMNT jersey. IMO....

And if he does make the cover

And if he is wearing a DC United jersey

Then Major League Soccer will have arrived and soccer will have "made it" in America!

    (insert evil laugh here)

Oh wait, nothing will actually change in the American soccer fan's world.

    Sorry.

    Carry on.
