Promises, promises... just like the old Naked Eyes song from the early 80s.

Sporting has been mandated by the Labor Court in Portugal to follow thru on their promise to Iordanov from years ago to give him a much deserved Friendly Game in his honor.
It's shameful that all Sporting "direccoes" including the current one has dragged this thing for so many years. Hopefully Sporting will not appeal this court decision, give the man his game ($) and avoid further bashing from people like me and Sporting supporters alike.

Unfortunatley Sporting does not give up! Today they appealed the Court decision:

    Tribunal deu razão a Iordanov

It's now a matter of principle, if they are forced to hold a "benefit" game for him that what is to prevent every player who retires from demanding a friendly for their benefit. It would set a bad precedent.

I feel bad for him, but this should have been done with already.

He had it in his contract and he did win two trophies playing for 10 years? I think it is deserved although at this point it's pretty shameful.

Absolutely embarassing. Iordanov was with the team through thick and thin. He could have left like his compatriot Balakov or countless of others that came and went, but he always chose to stay with Sporting. This is no way to treat a great player. It's a shame, it's an embarassment...

I am not on either side of this embarassing situation, but Iordanov hasn't been completely honest and is now trying to extort money from the club.

Was it in his contract, yes but if compensation was given then there shouldn't be any further discussion.
