At least we get a quick turnaround to get the taste of that Philly game out of our system. While we lost 4-0 yesterday, Dayton was busying winning 4-0. Big question is what type of lineup do we put out? Does Kronberg get the start? How many of our starters do we play with another game on Friday vs Chicago? We win we get either Harrisburg at home or on the road again vs Philly.
KEYS TO THE GAME: 1. Score more goals than the opponent. 2. Win. If we can formulate a gameplan that succeeds at these keys, I think we have a good chance of advancing. If we can do neither, I fear we will have a few rocky weeks ahead of us.
Besler can't get back soon enough. Collin needs a rest, and this would be an ideal game to do it in. I was thinking we might see Kronberg, along with several of our JV guys, similar to the lineup we put out against Orlando. Oh by the way, weather is gonna suck.....
http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/standings/index_E.html USL Pro standings. Orlando at the top, Dayton near the bottom after getting their first win over the weekend. Potential next opponent Harrisburg in the middle of the pack. This game reminds me so much of the Richmond game....potential danger all over the place, but I think after the Philly game, PV won't let their minds wander. Let's just hope there is some energy somewhere after looking lackluster over the weekend. Mother Nature should have no effect this time around (no chance of a lightning delay), other than making everybody sweat their butts off.
Man, if we win, and Philly wins, we go back there, and I think we'd go back hungry. I want another crack at them in their house in the semis. Not that I wouldn't mind another home match against a lower division team, mind you, but a chance for an epic rematch is just the right story line. Can't look past Dayton either, of course....
Will there be any sort of video broadcast of this game or a stream available. I am out of town and would really like to see it...
Star writer Tod Palmer tweeted that Bes will be available for this game. Please PV, give Collin a night off before he kills himself or somebody in the near vicinity..... Gotta wonder if his magical long throw will be available yet. Maybe more likely against Chicago....
There will be a feed on the SKC youtube channel. I certainly hope Besler starts for this one. I would rather he start and get things off to a good, calm start before being subbed off.
I really don't know where that nick name came from,,,,,,but I just don't see the parallel, similarity, or any other traits between the Spanish Xavi and the Hatian Xavi. Yes Joseph does handle the ball well, but his passes, off the ball movement and on the ball decisions are not very consistently good.
Actually, the next four matches (over just 13 days) are all against teams that beat SKC last time they met--Chicago, Montreal, Houston, and Philadelphia. Motivation should not be a problem! Does anyone know if KSMO-62 will televise the USOC semifinal?
The Haitian Zat Knight just doesn't sound as good? I've actually been impressed with him. I think he is fun to watch and I like him as a sub for Zusi. I also think he has done a decent job playing a more defensive mid at times, which I don't think is his strength. Looks like both SKC and Philly have cross-country games on the 4th and have home games that weekend before meeting on the 11th. However, they play on Sunday the 8th (TFC) while we play Saturday (Houston). But they also won't have to travel before our game. Lineups for those three games should be interesting.
how in the world did columbus lose to these guys? they were one of the worst sides i've ever seen kc play.
Finally, I have found somebody who agrees with me. He has not impressed me at all. He does some good things, but nothing outstanding or extraordinary. If Zusi gets hurt, we are screwed IMO. Speaking of Zus, damn it's about time that kid cranked one. Beautiful placement. He needs to shoot more from right outside the box instead of always looking to pass.
Really was not impressed with soony tonight. It may of just been me but he seemed to turn inside almost every time. Seth was making beautiful runs down the line, all however wasted by soony. I guess he will need to adjust to that one part of the system.
What does everyone think of Michael Thomas? Is he quietly doing a good job? Or are others covering for him? To me, it seems he is quietly doing a pretty good job -- nothing outstanding, but not making any major mistakes.
I think he is doing good as a fill in but I have to say I don't see much upside in his game. He seems to play it safe because he doesn't have the higher level skills, so he doesn't make the mistakes that H. Xavi makes, but it does not help the offense get into any dangerous positions.
Good win, the situation makes me slightly less upset about our drubbing by Philly, we should go back hungry... Anyway, here's to hoping Chivas can unseat Seattle so theres a chance that the potential final can be at LSP.
