Besler, got a decent bump, as did Sinovic.

I'd hoped that Convey had taken a bit more of a pay cut, but I guess cutting about $110K is better than nothing. Nagamura is actually making $25K more than he did last year...

When I saw this I actually thought players were pretty reasonably priced, the only exception being Nagamura. Way too much for a bench player, even as a veteran.

for what convey's provided so far, he's grossly overpaid.

What counts towards salary cap, base salary or guaranteed compensation? Or is it more complicated than that?

unless I missed something which I most likely did we are at 2.7 mill. I know that GA doesn't count, and I don't think that developmental counts as well. So what who doesn't count, and what is the mythical cap number again? Last I heard was 2.8

Roster spots 21-30 are "off budget players" and don't count against the cap. Only spots 1-20, and 19 and 20 don't have to be filled.

We have 28, so 18-20 of those players likely count against the cap. Of the 10 that don't, Dwyer, Ellis, and Kempin are 3 of them. I'd also add in Hedrick, Singh, and Warzycha.

The Nagamura number is ridiculous. After just scanning through the salaries, is he the highest paid non-starter in the league? He makes more than Olave for gawd sakes (and a bunch of other really good players but that one stood out).

Yep, Nagamura way overpaid. Second highest salary on the team for a bench guy? Yeesh. Oh well, at least he is an easy option to let go if we need cap space. We could get another roger and another zusi (or somene who is actually better than one of our starters) for that kind of money!

At this point I would say Harrington is overpaid as well.

Gonna have to pay CJ if we wanna keep him around, and even though Sinovic got a nice raise I still think he's a steal at $60k.

If we can find another player like Ceasar, but younger we should get rid of both Nagamura and Cesar. Cesar brings a certain calm to a game but cannot keep up. Nagamura's salary was just a replacement for Davy's last year, both bench players. Nagamura's salary must be renegotiated and given to Espinoza during this offseason. The one thing I wish that these salary info also released was how many years were left.

If you're right, then we have the cap space to pursue a DP in the summer window without disrupting the roster.

Any chance we're not on the hook for all of Nagamura's salary? That's the one thing about these listings of salaries - there's so much that goes on behind-the-scenes that you can't be positive about what you see. Like some DP is only a DP due to sponsorships?

That said, Roger and Zusi deserve a pay raise, IMO, but sometimes I think the way MLS works you end up not paying kids when they're young so that you pay them when they're older and not as important or even useful.

That's very possible that Chivas is covering part of his salary.

Zusi more than doubled his salary from last year, he was making $42K last year.

I think that mid season DP's count half of what there normal number does against the cap. We could go for 2 DP's if we wanted

That is correct. And remember there are 3 different DP categories for DPs depending on age now.

Sapong needs a pay raise too, but that'll come in time. And who would have thought that Cesar was our highest paid player?
